Halul Offshore Services Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Milaha, has recently procured an offshore support vessel (OSV) ship handling simulator, which is reportedly the first of its kind in Qatar. Five Minutes with Halul Offshore CEO, Vivek Seth
Last month Maritime Reporter spent some time with Vivek Seth, CEO, of Qatar-based Halul Offshore Services Company, for his insights on the impact of low oil prices in the Middle East and beyond. What is your background? I became part of the Milaha family when I joined Halul Offshore in February 2014 as CEO. I am a second generation Marine Engineer. After sailing as a C/E I took my first shore job as Technical superintendent in Hong Kong for more than two years. Subsequently, I got my Masters in Business Administration from UK.
Halul Offshore Awards L&T Shipbuilding Contracts
The orders from Halul Offshore Services Company are for design, construction, trials and commissioning of two Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) and two Anchor Handling, Towing, Supply and Support Vessels (AHTSSVs) and were secured against tough international competition. The PSVs will be equipped for firefighting, rescue and standby, offshore supply, oil recovery and related duties. They will have Diesel-electric propulsion and DP2 dynamic positioning capability. AHTSSVs, with a bollard pull of 90 tonnes, will be equipped for emergency response and rescue, offshore supply, oil recovery, standby and other related duties. and will also be provided with advanced Diesel-Hybrid propulsion and DP2 dynamic positioning capability.
Cargotec Nets Four OSV System Orders
MacGregor bulk handling systems are to be installed on four offshore support vessels (OSV) of various types under construction in Asia and Europe. In the last quarter of 2011 Cargotec secured contracts for MacGregor bulk handling systems for installation onboard four offshore support vessels (OSV) newbuildings belonging to two different owners; one in the UAE (two vessels) and the other in Spain (two vessels). At the end of November, Grandweld Shipyards in the United Arab Emirates ordered MacGregor bulk handling systems for two anchor-handling tug/supply (AHTS) vessels, hull Nos 389 and 390.
