Electrochlorination equipment supplier De Nora announced that Dr. Stelios Kyriacou has been appointed as General Manager of its BALPURE Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) business unit. Dr. Kyriacou joins De Nora Water Technologies from Wärtsilä, where he managed the research, development, design and certification of the full Wärtsilä BWMS range. He previously undertook the same role at Hamworthy from 2009 until its acquisition by Wärtsilä and held roles at Hatlapa Marine Equipment. Dr.

MacGregor is presently building its new Global Lifecycle Support organisation to develop and enhance customer service both in the merchant shipping and offshore markets. The installed base of MacGregor's product portfolio of strong MacGregor, Hatlapa, Porsgrunn, Pusnes and Triplex brands is extensive in both markets and MacGregor is strongly focusing on serving its customers well throughout the lifetime of the installations. MacGregor announces appointments of two new Vice Presidents to lead its front line operations and service competence centres globally. Nick White is appointed as Vice President, Global Field Services which is an elemental part of the new Global Lifecycle Support in MacGregor group to drive the development of frontline service operations.

Cargotec's MacGregor has completed the acquisition of the mooring and loading systems unit from Aker Solutions. Cargotec announced the agreement to acquire the unit in October 2013 for an enterprise value of approximately €180 million. The unit will be consolidated into MacGregor's results as of February 1, 2014. "The addition of the mooring and loading systems' team members, technologies and products further positions MacGregor as a true leader in the marine and offshore equipment market.

Hamburg-based manufacturer HATLAPA Marine Equipment has purchased a majority shareholding in the Norwegian deck machinery company Triplex AS. In doing so HATLAPA’s traditional product portfolio of compressors, steering gear and winches has now been significantly expanded to include all components of a typical deck machinery package for supply vessels and AHTs. With oil and gas exploration and production taking place in deeper and deeper waters the requirements of support vessels is developing significantly and with it the need for more sophisticated and automated equipment.

With the global economy on the way to recovery and the offshore industry growing substantially, Brazil is acting as major trailblazer in the market place. The marine equipment supplier HATLAPA has been matching the trend in recent years by increasing its activities in the offshore sector as well as making Brazil one of its geographical focus areas.
