Evergreen Group Supports U.K. National Maritime Museum

Last week witnessed the official opening of the UK National Maritime Museum (NMM)ā€™s ā€˜Art for the Nationā€™ exhibition, sponsored by Taiwanā€™s Evergreen Group via its charitable arm, the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation. The exhibition brings together for the first time under one roof the Museumā€™s extensive fine art collection, featuring paintings by great names such as Turner, Hogarth, Gainsborough and Reynolds, as well as works by the Dutch Van de Velde family. HRH the Prince of Wales was present at the opening ceremony along with an array of VIP guests including Maurice Storey, Honorary Chairman of the Evergreen Groupā€™s UK-based container line Hatsu Marine Limited.

Hatsu to Launch Transatlantic Service

Hatsu Marine Limited is to launch a new service in June linking North Europe with the U.S. East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico. The service, provided in partnership with CMA CGM and China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL), will be known as EUG. In addition to serving the busy US-Mexico trades, the new service will allow Hatsu to link the fast-growing Mexican market with its European feeder and global networks over the major North European ports. The weekly service will deploy five ships, each able to load approximately 2,800 TEU. The vessels will operate at a service speed of 20.5 knots and offer approximately 350 reefer plugs. Hatsu will contribute one vessel, while the other lines will supply two each. The first sailing will take place on 4 June out of Le Havre.

Green Mega Ship Makes Call at Port of Tacoma

Port of Tacoma officials joined officials of Evergreen Group and its Hatsu Marine Limited subsidiary to mark the arrival of the new S-type, 7,024-TEU (20-foot equivalent container unit) green mega ship ā€“ the second is a series of 10 Evergreen Group S-type vessels ā€“ designed with a host of environmental features designed to protect the oceans and harbors the ships call on throughout the world. * The ability to shut down all shipboard generators while in port at terminals equipped with shore-based electricity. With an overall length of 984 ft. (300 meters) and a beam of 140.5 ft. (42.8 meters), Evergreen's new S-type vessels can transport a capacity of 78,200 short tons at a service speed of 25.3 knots.
