Brunvoll to Equip Aquaculture Service Vessel

Brunvoll has been chosen to deliver all propulsion, maneuvering and positioning systems for a 24-meter service vessel for aquaculture. The vessel is designed by NSK Ship Design and will be built at Havyard Leirvik for handover to owner Nordlaks Maritime in 2025.The new compact vessel can support tasks and needs 24/7. A special requirement for the designer and owner was to minimize the noise and vibration from the tunnel thruster in the bow of the vessel. Here the Brunvoll Low-Noise thruster was chosen to meet this requirement.In addition to suitable thrusters and propulsion system

Eqva to Sell Havyard Leirvik Yard in Norway to Turkish Buyer

Eqva, an owner of industrial service companies, said Monday it would divest Havyard Leirvik Yard in Norway to a Turkish buyer.“The sale of Havyard Leirvik will free up important resources, both human and financial, enabling a concentrated focus on further development of Eqva’s current industrial portfolio, and look for new investment opportunities,” said Even Matre Ellingsen, Chair of the Board of Eqva. Havyard Leirvik is being sold to Tersan Shipyard, a Turkish-based shipbuilder.

The vessel Åsværfjord, which is the sixth ship in the Havtrans series, is leaving Havyard Leirvik to go into service for Frøy.Managing director of the yard, Tor Leif Mongstad, says they must have broken the world record for start-up on these kinds of ships.‘I do not think there is anyone who can compare with us when it comes to starting up this type of ships. Esvagt's New SOV to Work at Offshore Wind Farm in UK

Danish offshore vessel operator Esvagt, which earlier this week took delivery of a newbuild service operation vessel from Havyard Leirvik, plans to deploy the vessel at an offshore wind farm in the UK.The company said Thursday that the vessel, its third SOV offshore service vessel delivered to it by Havyard in nine months. The vessel completes the order for three SOVs ordered to service Vestas in several offshore wind farms.The new vessel is a sister vessel to ‘Esvagt Alba’, working in the Moray East wind farm in the UK

Havyard Leirvik to Convert Ferry from Diesels to Batteries

Havyard said its shipyard in Leirvik won a contract with Fjord1 for modification of the car ferry MF Lote, a ferry that will operate the route Skarberget–Bognes over the Tysfjord in Nordland county.The conversion contract is seen as strategically important by the shipyard, particularly as it nears completion of a large-scale newbuild program and shifts its focus towards the modification and repair market. In recent years, the yard has been working on building and delivering ferries, wellboats and SOV vessels.

Norway-based Havyard Leirivik said Thursday it had handed over a new wind farm service vessel to the Danish shipowner Esvagt.The vessel named ‘Alba’ is the second in a series of three vessels.Havyard's Norwegian Electric Systems has delivered the bridge solution and automation and electric power systems on board. New Havyard Ship Technology AS is changing its name to Havyard Leirvik AS following the recent restructuring of the yard’s activities and changes to company strategy.Part of the Havyard Group, Havyard Leirvik installs marine emissions reduction technology as well as other repair and modification services.CEO Karsten Sævik explains that the yard, which in 2018 celebrated its 100th anniversary, was formerly also named Havyard Leirvik. "The yard is well known as Havyard, so it was natural to change the name back to Havyard Leirvik

OSV Hull Arrives at Havyard's Leirvik Yard

Havyard says that newbuild number 118 has arrived from Turkey at the yard in Leirvik, being the first of two vessels that will be outfitted to provide service and maintenance for offshore wind power installations. After a month on tow from Turkey, where the hull was built, build number 118 was assigned a place in dry dock when it arrived. It is the first of two vessels to be built for the shipping company ESVAGT, a new customer for Havyard, which says it is already expert at designing and building vessels for the fishing and offshore oil industry, and has now opened the door to a new market: renewable energy. The newbuild is a Havyard 832 SOV design (Service Operation Vessel) and will be used to service and maintain wind turbines.

Forland Selects Kongsberg Evotec ROV System

New systems enhances ROV handling capabilities. Kongsberg Evotec, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime, has been selected to supply its sophisticated new Launch and Recovery System (E-LARS) for Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV), for installation on a new Forland Shipping AS subsea vessel currently under construction at Havyard Leirvik, Norway. The Kongsberg Evotec’s E-LARS installation for Forland Shipping’s new 110 meters long, 22 meters wide subsea vessel, which is due for delivery in 2013, consists of both an ‘overboard’ system and a ‘moon pool’ system. The system is designed to handle work class ROVs with or without a Tether Management System (TMS) to depths below 4000m.

Naming Ceremony For Seven Havila Held In Stavanger

Subsea 7, a leading seabed-to-surface engineering and construction services contractor, Havila Shipping and Havyard Design & Engineering held an official naming ceremony for the new-build diving support vessel, Seven Havila, in Stavanger on Thursday 17 March 2011. The vessel, one of the most sophisticated of its kind, is 120 metres long with 1050 m2 of deck space and is capable of travelling at a fast transit speed of 17 knots. Maritime Montering Chooses Alu Design

Alu Design & Services announced that it has received its 10th contract from Maritime Montering AS, a global supplier of complete marine accommodation systems. This order is for YN 66 at STX Brevik for E.R. Schiffahrt, Germany.   The cooperation between the companies began in January 2009 when Maritime Montering awarded its first contract to Alu Design. To date, the company has used Alu Design products in its deliveries to Båtbygg AS, Fiskerstrand Verft AS, Havyard Leirvik AS, Hellesøy Verft AS, Karstensens AS, STX Aukra, STX Brevik and Westcon AS. Havila Vessel Newbuilding Contract

Havila Shipping ASA has entered into a contract with Havyard Leirvik for building of a IRM vessel called Havyard 855. The vessel is developed by Havyard Maritime in close cooperation with Havila Shipping ASA.The vessel has a length of 97,5,4 m, breath of 19,8 m. In order to meet environmental and comfort demands in the future the vessel has; clean design class, catalysers, and DP 2. Delivery of the vessel will be during summer 2010, and the contract price is approx NOK 700 mill, included owner delivery of crane.

ABB Wins $45M in Propulsion Contracts

ABB in Norway has secured new contracts worth $45 million for delivery of complete electric propulsion systems to two icebreakers to be built for CJSV Sevmorneftegaz by the Norwegian shipyard Havyard Leirvik, and four Platform Supply Vessels to be built in China for Groupe Bourbon by Zhejiang Shipbuilding. The contracts with Havyard Leirvik encompass system supply to two multifunctional icebreaking offshore supply vessels for the Russian company CJSV Sevmorneftegaz. For each vessel, ABB will deliver a main propulsion package including Azipod propulsion system and a complete onboard electric power plant. The ships will be delivered in 2005 and 2006 for service in the Prirazlomnoye oil field in the Barents Sea.

Wind Power Comes of Age

Europe's fledgling offshore wind power industry has produced an order for an entirely new breed of vessel designed to transport and position wind turbines. U.K.-based engineering firm Mayflower Energy has contracted one such vessel from Shanhaiguan Shipyard in northern China on the strength of emerging demand for alternative, 'clean' energy sources. U.K. government plans call for 1,300 new 2-MW offshore turbines to be brought on stream over the next 10 years, and other littoral European countries have formulated large-scale projects for wind power generation systems. The perceived environmental acceptability of harnessing wind power for electricity generation is a strong motivator for the evident political approbation.

Schat-Harding Books Strong Year

Schat-Harding, a maker of lifeboats and davits, reported a strong orderbook in the third quarter of 2004, with orders totaling $16 million booked, driven by strong demand from passenger ships, offshore rigs, LNG and ice-class tankers and naval vessels. Key passenger ship orders included six CTL38 cruise tenders and 14 MPC32 compact cruise lifeboats with PD davits for two MSC newbuildings at Chantiers de l'Atlantique, eight MPC32 boats and VIP davits for a series of RoPax building at Italy's Visenti yard, and two MPC32 boats with davits for the lengthening of the RCCL Enchantment of the Seas. Offshore orders included two KISS800 systems for the Atwood Beacon rig, four KISS boats and davits for Pemex and two MCB 600 boats for the Dolphin Energy project.

Gareware Offshore Eyes Shipbuilding Venture

Mumbai-based Garware Offshore Services Ltd. plans to enter the shipbuilding business by setting up a facility to build offshore support vessels. Reports from India say the yard will be a joint venture with Norway-based ship Havyard Leirvik AS. Garware Offshore Plans Shipbuilding Yard with Norway Firm

Mumbai-based Garware Offshore Services Ltd., a company that offers ships for oil and gas exploration activities, plans to enter the shipbuilding business by setting up an exclusive facility for making offshore support vessels. This shipbuilding yard will be a joint venture with Norway-based ship manufacturer Havyard Leirvik AS, promoted by Havyard Group AS. Havyard Leirvik is a leader in making offshore ships, ice-breaking ships and other types of specialized vessels. According to the Shipyards Association of India, shipbuilding will entail an investment of about $76.1m by 2017. Reportedly, the venture could be 50:50, though nothing has been finalized.

Havila and Subsea Sign Contract

Havila Shipping ASA and Phoenix International, Inc. signed a 10-year contract, with additional option years, for the newly built SubSea Construction Vessel, Havyard 858. The vessel is scheduled for delivery from Havyard Leirvik during the summer of 2008, and will support oil and gas industry initiatives in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The contract has been entered into on market terms.

Garware Offshore Inks MoU With Havyard Leirvik

arware Offshore Services in association with Norway-based Havyard Leirvik AS signed a memorandum of understanding for marketing and sale of ships built by Havyard Leirvik A.S. and ship designs produced by Havyard Maritime A.S., a part of the Havyard Group to Indian shipping companies and Indian yards. Consequent to signing the MoU, the company and Havyard Maritime A.S. have obtained an order for 4 nos. Havyard 842 design from ABG Shipyard Ltd.India. This would result in new revenue segment for the company. The company anticipates a tremendous growth in this segment, considering the pool of software design talent available in the country and the experience and knowledge that company has in offshore and shipping industry.

Garware Offshore Receives New PSV

Garware Offshore Services Ltd announced that it has taken delivery of a newbuild PSV, Kamet, which was built by Havyard Leirvik in Norway. The vessel, which is a UT 755L with clean notation, DP1 and FiFi1 left Norway recently and is due in India by the third week of June 2007.
