BIO-UV in Chinese BWTS Partnership

Samskip Launches Netherlands-Italy Rail Service

European multimodal company Samskip Multimodal has launched Netherlands-Italy rail service that would bring multimodal benefits to Amsterdam.Officially launched on October 17, the connection sees trains depart from Melzo east of Milan three times a week, to be ready for unloading along 750m intermodal rail tracks inside TMA Logistics' Holland Cargo Terminal (HCT), Amsterdam 24 hours later.As well as avoiding the driver delays increasingly affecting European road transport, arrivals in Amsterdam coincide with Samskip shortsea departures to Hull, creating a seamless multimodal option to minimise post-Brexit border control issues.The new rail link is in addition to six times weekly train services connecting Melzo and Rotterdam…

LME Certification for Port of Amsterdam

Port of Amsterdam was awarded an LME certification this week by the London Metal Exchange (LME). From now on, Amsterdam is listed as a goods delivery point for aluminium, aluminium alloy, lead, nickel, tin and zinc. This will enable our terminals and forwarding companies to strengthen their position in the ferro and non-ferro markets for short and deep sea. The application for the certification was submitted by Port of Amsterdam to the London Metal Exchange (LME) in November 2017. The arrival of two ship-to-shore gantry cranes at HCT in the summer of 2017 made this application complete. The certification will become effective 90 days after the first business has been approved by LME. This award contributes to the diversification policy pursued by the Port.

Abu Dhabi Ports’ Training Centre Reports Successful 2014

Abu Dhabi Ports’ Maritime Training Centre looked back on what it called a successful year, noting a number “success stories” throughout 2014 as the number of trainees at the center increased by 15% in 2014 compared to 2013. InterMoor Completes Saipem UK Contract

InterMoor Marine Services Ltd., an Acteon company, has completed a Saipem UK Ltd. (Sonsub Division) contract to perform positioning and heading control for the hook-up operations of a new floating production, storage and offloading(FPSO) unit in a depth of 815 meters in the Aquila Field, Adriatic Sea, Italy. Initiated in August 2010, the agreement included carrying out FPSO positioning and heading control analyses; analyzing optimized anchor handling scenarios for the FPSO mooring hook-up; and producing marine and survey procedures.

PD Ports Handles Special Cargo

PD Ports (PDP) recently handled of a specialist project cargo, which sailed into Hull Container Terminal (HCT) on the Beluga Federation vessel in June. PDP was awarded the contract by international freight forwarders, Transcar Projects Ltd, to handle the project cargo. The cargo was intended for the BP power station at Saltend, where it will form part of the station’s cooling system. The location of the container terminal and close proximity to the power station, all complemented PDP’s winning service offering.
