Retractable Flanking Rudders for Imperial’s Push Boats
Imperial Shipping has chosen Van der Velden Marine Systems retractable flanking rudder systems for its push boats. The retractable flanking rudder system is an in-house innovation of Van der Velden Marine Systems (VDVMS). The system brings new efficiency to the inland shipping industry and will first be used in Paraguay. At the request of Dutch shipbuilder Damen, VDVMS developed the system and had it tested independently by the Development Centre for Ship Technology and Transport Systems (DST) in Duisburg (DE). Flanking rudders are often used for inland river tow boats.
Simrad Debuts New 27” HD Monitor
The new Simrad M5027 optically bonded HD monitor for the commercial marine market is a 27” marine monitor designed to meet the color calibration requirements of ECDIS systems and the size requirements of 320mm CAT1 radar systems. According to the manufacturer, the Simrad M5027 monitor is built for long term, reliable operation with an optical bonded LCD as standard. Optical bonded displays eliminate the “air gap” issues of condensation, overheating and contamination common in lesser quality displays.
Aydin Marine Debuts Multi-Touch K-17T

Two Simrad Radar Displays Launched
The new Simrad R2009 and R3016 Radar control units, two dedicated radar displays have been launched today for use with Simrad’s award winning radar antenna solutions. The Simrad R2009 Radar control features a 9” portrait display. The Simrad R3016 boasts a 16” wide-screen display. Both systems utilise an intuitive control interface with the latest generation of digital tuning to allow for optimal situational awareness in the most adverse conditions. Outstanding target resolutions are achieved using beam sharpening technology when paired with the Simrad Broadband 3G/4G Radomes or Halo Pulse Compression arrays. The R2009 and R3016 Radar control units are well suited for use as “stand alone” dedicated radar stations.
GOST Marine Security Video Recording Device
GOST (Global Ocean Security Technologies) released its next generation security video solution, the GOST Watch HD Internet Video Recorder (IVR). The new video recording system features a four terabyte hard drive – designed to capture and store video on a modern yacht – that is capable of continuously recording and storing 90 days of video from up to six cameras. The GOST Watch HD IVR system supports the highest resolution video recording from any GOST or third party analog cameras connected to the GOST Watch HD Analog-to-Digital Gateway (GWHD-A/D Gateway).
