DMCA Showcases Local Maritime Leadership

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) showcased Dubai's global maritime leadership in the presence of a high-level delegation from City of Glasgow College who commended the manner in which the outstanding experiences of the UAE maritime sector has transformed it into an internationally renowned maritime community. This was done during a visit by an academic delegation from the UK College to the DMCA head office in Dubai to promote collaboration in the vital fields of maritime training, research and studies. Amer Ali, Executive Director of the DMCA, accompanied the guests on a tour of Drydocks World which has been instrumental in achieving the ambitious aspiration of developing Dubai into one of the global Top Ten in terms of maritime efficiency, attractiveness, and competitiveness.

IRS completes Well Stimulation Vessel Conversion

IRClass, a leading Classification Society and member of IACS, has recently completed the survey and certification of ‘Greatship Ramya’, during its conversion from an Offshore Supply Vessel (OSV) to a Well Stimulation Vessel for Schlumberger under its Single Class. The vessel is now deployed with an Indian Oil Major in the offshore sector. Well Stimulation Vessels are one of the most critical ship types in offshore segment with respect to complexity of processes and equipment reliability as they handle hazardous chemicals under very high pressures (close to 20,000 Psi) and supply/receive these fluids to& from offshore Oil Wells. Rolls-Royce Sets Up MTU Middle East Subsidiary

Rolls-Royce has set up MTU Middle East as a new regional sales and service subsidiary with head office in Dubai to support distributors and business partners of MTU, MTU Onsite Energy and Bergen Engines in 21 countries in the Middle East and North Africa. In this region, high-speed and medium-speed large diesel and gas engines, drive systems and on-site power generation systems are mainly deployed in electrical power generation, the oil and gas industry, and to drive trains and agricultural machinery. ISS Celebrates ISO Accreditation in M.East and Africa

Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), the world’s leading maritime services provider, is celebrating the awards of ISO 22000:2005 – Food Safety Management System and ISO 9001:2008 for the company’s supply chain operations in Dubai, Mombasa and Mogadishu. Ceremonies recently took place at its global headquarters in the UK and in its regional Head Office in Dubai. As a pre-requisite to fulfilling the requirements of a three year (plus two year option) contract with the United Nations to supply the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), ISS had to meet a number of operational criteria relating to the procurement, supply chain management, transportation, warehousing and distribution of food to the Mission.

Quality hat-trick for GAC Marine Logistics

Global ship spares logistics provider GAC Marine Logistics Inc. (GML) has secured ISO certifications in recognition of its Quality Management, Environmental Management and Occupational Health & Safety Systems. SIS to Provide Dubai Shipping with Total Fleet Management

According to Star Information Systems (SIS) the company has won a contract to provide DSC (Dubai Shipping Company) with a comprehensive fleet management system. The system will be installed on DSC’s nine vessels and at its head office in Dubai. According to Martin Karlstad, Sales Manager, SIS, the fleet management system will provide DSC with a comprehensive range of software and services, including maintenance, spare parts/purchasing, budget, crew/payroll, ISM/quality assurance elements, ship performance management and a seamless interface to link purchasing with DSC’s existing ERP, Oracle Financials.
