Dredge Capsizes in the Mississippi River

Responders are working to minimize environmental damages from a cutter suction dredge that capsized in the Mississippi River near Meraux, La. on Monday.The U.S. Coast Guard said its watchstanders at Sector New Orleans were notified at 12:50 a.m. that the dredging vessel W.B. Wood capsized in the vicinity of mile marker (MM) 85. The two people on board were rescued by the crew of a nearby towing vessel, Omaha.Coast Guard aerial observers confirmed sheening from the incident location down to MM 64, which is expected to dissipate naturally.

Oil Tank Platform Collapses, Oil Spills in Terrebonne Bay, Louisiana

The U.S. Coast Guard is responding to an oil spill after an oil tank platform collapsed at the Hilcorp Caillou Island facility in Terrebonne Bay, Louisiana, on Monday.Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Houma personnel initially received a notification from the National Response Center stating the platform experienced a structural failure causing a tank to fall into the water and spill the oil. Environmental Safety & Health Consulting Services has been hired as the oil spill removal organization.

A Singaporean-flagged oil tanker discharged oil on the Lower Mississippi River near Kenner, La., on Thursday.U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received notification at 6:08 p.m. that the Hafnia Rhine discharged oil during a fueling operation with a fuel barge at Ama Anchorage, mile marker 115. American Seafoods Taps Vikand for Medical Management Services

Maritime medical operations and public health provider Vikand Medical Solutions, LLC said it has been appointed by American Seafoods, the world’s largest at-sea processor of wild Alaska pollock, to manage its medical operations.Holly Love, VIKAND’s vice president of medical operations, said the company has been working with American Seafoods since the end of 2020 and will now manage medical needs for all six vessels in its fleet. Coast Guard Responds to Damaged Oil Wellhead in Bayou Report

The Coast Guard is working with local, state and federal agencies today to respond to an oil spill in Bayou Perot La. The oil spill is the result of a damaged sweet medium crude oil wellhead near mile marker 20 of the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway, which was discovered shortly after midnight Saturday. Crews from Coast Guard Sector New Orleans, and Marine Safety Units Morgan City, La., and Houma, La., are responding to the spill.
