Seaway7 Gets Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Job

Subsea7's renewables-focused offshore installation subsidiary Seaway7 has secured a ‘sizeable contract’ by PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Ørsted for the transport and installation of the substations for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm in Poland.Seaway7’s scope includes the transport and installation of four substations. Roll Group Adds Two Ships

Roll Group will add two vessels from the global logistics company, KMC Line, commencing in the second half of 2025. The vessels will be renamed Bigroll KMC Beaumont and Bigroll KMC Busan, giving the heavy cargo carrier a larger fleet of 10 heavy transport project vessels. KMC Line, founded in 1989 and based in Korea, specializes in steel shipping, bulk carriers, heavy cargo shipping industries, and agency work. The company operates primarily in Asia, Australia, and the Americas.Roll Group

Greenpeace Activists Board Heavy-lift Vessel Carrying Shell's Penguins FPSO

Four Greenpeace activists on Tuesday boarded the heavy transportation vessel carrying Shell's Penguins FPSO aboard, calling on the oil major to "Stop Drilling. Start Paying."Six Greenpeace International activists attempted, and four managed to board Boskalis' White Marlin vessel in the Atlantic Ocean north of the Canary Islands. The heavy transportation vessel is carrying the recently delivered 34,000t Penguins FPSO, which is planned to ultimately be deployed northeast of the Shetland Islands in the North Sea for the Penguins field project.

Shell's 34,000t North Sea-bound Penguins FPSO Leaves Chinese Shipyard

Shell's Penguins FPSO has set sail from China loaded aboard Boskalis' White Marlin semi-submersible heavy transportation vessel.In a social media post on Thursday, Boskalis said: "Boskalis’ semi-submersible transport vessel White Marlin departed from Qingdao, China with an impressive cargo; the 34,000-ton cylinder-shaped Shell Penguins FPSO. After a smooth and safe float-on and [seafastening] campaign, the vessel started her journey to Norway." At the time of writing, the White Marlin was sailing past the east coast of Taiwan

Following a long journey from Thailand, an offshore substation built for the massive Dogger Bank offshore wind project in the United Kingdom arrived at Aibel's yard in Haugesund on Saturday, aboard BigLift Shipping's heavy transportation vessel BigLift Baffin.The substation is the first of three platforms that Aibel will deliver to the world’s largest offshore wind farm, the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank, which is located in the North Sea, 130 kilometers off the Yorkshire coast.The platforms

Singapore's Sembcorp Marine has delivered the Norwegian Barents Sea-bound Johan Castberg FPSO to Equinor. The FPSO has set off for Norway, loaded aboard Boskalis' Boka Vanguard semi-submersible heavy transportation vessel.Johan Castberg is Sembcorp Marine’s first EPC newbuild FPSO. Sembcorp Marine’s scope of work for the Johan Castberg FPSO vessel comprised the construction of the hull and living quarters.Upon final completion in Norway, the FPSO is scheduled for deployment at the Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea, about 240km from Hammerfest, Norway.

Autoship Systems Corp. Launches Offshore Stability Solution for Jack-ups. Bags Contract with Seaway 7

Canadian firm Autoship Systems Corporation (ASC) in cooperation with its Norwegian reseller, Coastdesign Norway (CDN), has developed an offshore stability software for jack-up vessels called - the Autoload® - Jack Up version and has won a contract to install the solution onboard Seaway 7’s first self-propelled jack-up vessel, VIND 1. Autoload is also installed onboard their entire fleet of vessels which include open deck semi-submersible heavy transportation vessels, cable lay, heavy lift crane installation, and Installation support vessels, Autoship Systems said.

King’s Quay Floating Production Unit Reaches Texas

China's Cosco Shipping has earlier this month delivered the King’s Quay floating production unit to Ingleside, Texas, aboard its M/V Xiang An Kou semi-submersible heavy transportation vessel, after a long journey from South Korea.The 21,498mt platform, built by Hyundai Heavy Industries, will be used for Murphy Oil's offshore oil field developments around 175 miles south of New Orleans in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.The King’s Quay floating production unit is scheduled to go into service in 2022.

Seaway 7 Charters Maersk Connector Cable Layer

Danish offshore vessel operator Maersk Supply Service has secured a one-year contract for its Maersk Connector cable laying vessel with Seaway 7, a renewables branch of offshore installation firm Subsea 7.Seaway 7, which is set to merge with vessel owner OHT, will take the 138.35 meter-long vessel on a one-year charter, with an option to extend for six more months.Starting in October 2021, the Maersk Connector will initially work in the North Sea region and is expected to move to Asia after that. The cable layer was delivered in 2016 by the Dutch shipbuilder Damen.“Maersk Connector is a state-of-the-art cable-laying vessel with a highly skilled crew.

Offshore Wind Installation Giant in the Making: Subsea 7 to Merge Renewables Business with OHT

Subsea energy services firm Subsea 7 said Thursday it had agreed to merge its renewables business with OHT, and Oslo-listed heavy lift and transportation vessel owner which is building a fleet of offshore wind installation vessels, too.The combined company will be renamed Seaway 7 ASA and will initially retain OHT’s listing on Oslo’s Euronext Growth market, with a view to a future listing on the main board of Oslo Børs. Subsea 7 will own 72% and OHT’s shareholders 28% of Seaway 7 ASA.

On November 25, 2020, MV Hawk discharged her final jacket foundation for the Moray East Offshore Wind Farm.OHT’s heavy transportation vessel carried its second load of 10jackets from Lamprell’s fabrication site in Hamriyah, UAE, arriving at the Port of Nigg in the Cromarty Firth on November 12, 2020, marking the completion of OHT’s eight-month transportation campaign which also used its vessels MV Osprey and MV Albatross. OHT Bags Moray East Jackets Gig

The heavy transport vessel operator Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT) has secured a contract from DEME Offshore to transport foundations for the 950MW Moray East wind farm off Scotland.The contract includes transportation of 48 jackets from Lamprell fabrication yard, UAE to the Port of Nigg in the Scottish Highlands.OHT will dedicate three of their largest open deck semi-submersible heavy transportation vessels to the project. OHT Sisters Spoted in Singapore

Eagle and Falcon, sister vessels and the workhorses of the Offshore Heavy Transport  (OHT) family, were coincidentally working side by side in Singapore earlier this month loading two jack-up rigs.Eagle started her loading operation of the 14,527 mt CJ46 jack-up rig Noble Johnny Whitstine from 14 February, said a press note from the heavy transport vessel operator .Just after deballasting the vessel, and preparing cargo for sailing, Falcon arrived at the same anchorage, said the specialized heavy transport and installation contractor, building on Norway’s long and proud heritage in maritime pioneering.The Borr Drilling’s 16,415 mt jack-up rig Natt

MAN Scores OffShore Wind Reference

MAN Energy Solutions reported that it won an order to supply the engines for a new heavy-lift crane installation-vessel for Oslo-based OHT (Offshore Heavy Transport).In total, MAN ES will supply four MAN 12V32/44CR GenSets with a total output of 28,800 kW for the ship, which is being built at the shipyard of China Merchants Heavy Industry in Haimen/Nantong with delivery due in Q4, 2020. The order is for a single vessel, with options for three more.The Alfa Lift is a heavy installation crane vessel design with semi-submersible heavy transportation capabilities.

MC-Class Vessels Incorporated in BigLift Fleet

This week, BigLift Shipping’s BigLift Baffin arrived in Singapore to deliver a crane boom and luffing frame for Heerema Marine Contractor’s new flag ship Sleipnir from the Huisman wharf in Xiamen, China. This is the first project for the vessel after her transformation into the BigLift colours. Sister vessel BigLift Barentsz’ first voyage in the BigLift livery will start next month with a shipment of container cranes for a Japanese client. It is well-known that at the end of 2017 BigLift Shipping ended the cooperation with RollDock for the management of the MC-Class vessels. Since January 1, the two BigLift-owned MC Class vessels are part of the BigLift fleet and are now sailing under the names BigLift Barentsz and BigLift Baffin.

RollDock, SAL Heavy Lift Form Dock Vessels Pool

RollDock and SAL Heavy Lift announced plans to join forces for roll-on/roll-off and float-in/float-out heavy lift cargoes, saying they will launch a “world’s first” pool for dock vessels from April 1, 2018. The pool will consist of the combined fleet of six vessels and will be managed by RollDock with SAL providing specialized heavy break bulk cargo support. Five of the vessels comes from the existing RollDock fleet (S and ST class vessels) and one from SAL (Combi Dock I). Both companies will also continue independently and operate vessels outside the pool.

Heavy Lift: RollDock and Roll-Lift Team Up

Having received a contract from NEM Energy BV for the transportation of two boiler blocks and two combustor units from Taiwan to Malaysia, Roll Group was called upon to put to work the combined capabilities of its in-house engineering department and experienced heavy transportation teams, enabling the group to offer a complete tailor-made solution by both land and sea. NEM Energy BV involved the Roll Group at an early stage in the project, and the group’s engineers worked together with the NEM team to produce a precisely fitting sea fastening design which was integrated into the boiler block.

Two Additions to LOC's Singapore Team

London Offshore Consultants (LOC), a leading global marine and engineering consultancy for the shipping and offshore energy industry, has boosted its presence in Singapore with two new appointments – Mark Board as Marine Consultant, and Dan Niklas Ahlgren as Naval Architect. Mark joined LOC Singapore as Marine Consultant in September 2016. He brings with him experience in bulk carriers, roll on–roll off vessels, FSO’s and container ships. He also has an extensive experience at all ranks on board oil tankers, spending the bulk of his 23 years at sea in Aframax carriers, and sailed as Master in product tankers. Since then, he has spent 18 years in shore management, and has led investigations on collisions, groundings, and worked closely with port authorities in oil spill response.
