C-NLOPB Updates Hebron Field Volume Estimate

The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) has approved the Development Plan Amendment (DPA) for the Hebron Field.The Hebron oil field is located offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, in the Jeanne d'Arc Basin 340 kilometers southeast of St. John's. The field was first discovered in 1980, and is estimated to produce more than 700 million barrels of recoverable resources. Siem Offshore Inks 18-Month Charter Extension for AHTS Vessel in Canada

Norwegian offshore vessel owner Siem Offshore has secured a contract extension for one of its AHTS vessels in Canada.The extension is related to the Ice Class AHTS vessel "Avalon Sea," covering a firm duration of 18 months upon completion of the current term. The extension will ensure continued operations for the vessel well into Q2 2024. The 87-meter-long vessel was built in Poland's Remontowa Shipyard in 2015.According to MarineTraffic.com, the Avalon Sea left the Hebron platform in Canada's Atlantic and is currently an route to St. John's.

Siem, Solstad Offshore Vessels Net Deals in Canada, Brazil

Norwegian offshore vessel owners Solstad Offshore and Siem Offshore said Monday in separate statements they'd secured a contract for their offshore vessels.Solstad Offshore won a contract for its construction support vessel Normand Valiant with Brazil's Petrobras. Normand Valiant will provide accommodation services to support production activities on the Brazilian continental shelf. The charter is two years firm with an option of a two-year extension. The contract is expected to start in the second quarter of 2022.

Crown LNG Awards FEED Deal to Aker Solutions for Offshore LNG Terminal in India

Norwegian group Crown LNG has signed a deal with Aker Solutions as the main contractor to deliver a concrete gravity-based structure (GBS) for Crown’s offshore LNG terminal at Kakinada, India.Under the agreement, Aker Solutions and key subcontractors will first conduct the front-end engineering and design for the LNG terminal. Aker Solutions’ scope includes technical development of the concrete foundation and topsides, as well as the pipeline between the offshore regasification terminal and the onshore gas grid.

ExxonMobil's Canada Offshore Project Produces First Oil

The Hebron oil project off the coast of eastern Canada has produced its first oil, operator Exxon Mobil said on Tuesday, in a boost to Atlantic Canada's output after years of weak crude prices. At its peak Hebron will produce up to 150,000 barrels per day (bpd), Exxon said. It will help Atlantic Canada offshore production climb 44 percent to 307,000 bpd by 2024, according to estimates from the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers. Teekay’s New Shuttle Tanker Delivered

Teekay Offshore said it has taken delivery of Beothuk Spirit, the first of three new shuttle tankers to serve East Coast Canada, built in Korea by Samsung Heavy Industries. Heritage Class sister vessels Norse Spirit and Dorset Spirit are scheduled for delivery in the first half of November 2017 and early-2018 respectively. The three Suezmax, DP2 shuttle tankers will provide crude transportation services to the Hibernia, Terra Nova, White Rose and Hebron offshore oil fields located in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador.

Keel Laid for Teekay’s First New Canada Tanker

Teekay Offshore will be the sole supplier and operator of shuttle tankers sfor East Coast Canada(ECC), says Teekay Corporation. On February 15, the keel laying ceremony for Teekay’s first shuttle tanker newbuilding for ECC took place at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Korea. This milestone marks the end of the block building period as well as the beginning of the next phase – to complete the newbuilding with all its systems. The shuttle tanker, the Beothuk Spirit, is expected to be delivered in August of 2017. This shuttle tanker is the first of three newbuildings to be provided for loading crude at Hibernia, Terra Nova, White Rose and Hebron offshore oil fields located in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador.

Aker Solutions Revenue Steady

EBITDA margin ex. EBIT margin ex. Aker Solutions' revenue was steady at NOK 8 billion in the second quarter of 2015 from a year earlier amid progress on major projects from Africa to Norway and Brazil. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) were NOK 376 million, compared with NOK 472 million a year earlier. Aker Solutions secured NOK 3.4 billion in orders in the quarter, including a key maintenance, modifications and operations contract from ExxonMobil for engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services at the Hebron oilfield offshore Canada. The company won strategically significant orders for early-phase studies for existing and potential offshore field developments in Malaysia, Australia, the Gulf of Mexico and Norway, including the Barents Sea.

Trojan Marinex announced that Damen Shipyards have selected the Trojan Marinex Ballast Water Treatment (BWT) system for a fleet of Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) it is building for Atlantic Towing Limited – a Canadian-owned marine transportation company. “It’s been an exciting year for us,” said Marv DeVries, president, Trojan Technologies. “Our entire product suite achieved IMO Type Approval in March, AMS acceptance in August, and we are on course for U.S. Coast Guard Type Approval.

Atlantic Towing Orders Ice Class Damen PSVs

Atlantic Towing (USA) has selected newly-designed, ice-strengthened PSV 5000 vessels from Damen Shipyards Group to meet its 10-year offshore support contract with ExxonMobil Canada Properties and Hibernia Management and Development Company Ltd. (HMDC). The vessels will operate in the sub-arctic waters of the Hibernia and Hebron oil fields, off Newfoundland and Labrador. ATL will take delivery of four PSV 5000 vessels, one of which will be equipped for inspection, repair and maintenance duties.

ATL Secures 10-Year OSV Contract for ExxonMobil

Kvaerner Order Backlog Triples

At the end of Q1 2013 the Norwegian company's backlog totalled a record-high NOK 31.6 billion, including incorporated joint ventures. Kvaerner, a specialised provider of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for offshore platforms and onshore plants, reported operating revenues of NOK 2 907 million in the first quarter 2013. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) amounted to NOK 103 million, resulting in an EBITDA margin of 3.5 percent. "Our order backlog, when including the Hebron project, has nearly tripled over the last 12 months. It provides a robust platform to strengthen our competitiveness", says Jan Arve Haugan, President & CEO of Kvaerner.

The Hebron field development offshore Newfoundland and Labrador was sanctioned by operator ExxonMobil and its co-venturers. Located approximately 350 km offshore Newfoundland, the Hebron platform will be a concrete Gravity Based Structure (GBS) in 95 meters water depth. The Hebron field is estimated to produce more than 700 million barrels of oil. The platform is being designed for an oil production rate of 150,000 barrels of oil per day. For Statoil, which holds a 9.7% share in Hebron, this is a significant component in the growth of the company’s Canada East Coast operations.

Kværner ASA authorised for further work on Hebron Project in Newfoundland & Labrador Kiewit-Kvaerner Contractors, the 50/50 joint venture between Peter Kiewit Infrastructure and Kvaerner, has been authorised by ExxonMobil Canada Properties (EMCP) to proceed with work on the Hebron Project gravity based structure (GBS) project in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.   The authorisation follows substantial completion of front end engineering and design services and awards the next phase, which includes detailed engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) related services. Kvaerner estimates its share of this work to be approximately USD 125-150 million.
