Wärtsilä Thrusters on Sea Trials for Large SSCV

Performance of the propulsion solutions supplied by the technology group Wärtsilä exceeded the design specification and contributed to the success of the sea trials for the world’s largest semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV). The ‘Sleipnir’ was built at Sembcorp Marine’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore for the Dutch offshore contractor Heerema Offshore Services (HOS). It was delivered from the yard in July.The huge vessel is designed for heavy lifting operations and is fitted with two cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 10,000 metric tonnes.

Rolls-Royce Mooring System for Giant Crane Vessel

Rolls-Royce has signed a $11.5 million contract to supply the mooring system for the world’s largest semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV), Sleipnir. The vessel will be built in Singapore by SembCorp Marine for the Dutch company Heerema Offshore Services. Mooring systems from Rolls-Royce are designed to operate safely in the harshest climatic zones. For this vessel – the “Sleipnir” – Rolls-Royce will deliver a tailor made equipment package for specific operations, comprising a 12 point mooring system including electric driven winches, fairleads, wire sheaves and also a control system.

Harding Wins Heerema Sleipnir Contract

Harding has been awarded contracts for nine FF1200 freefall lifeboat systems complete with davits on Heerema Offshore Services BV’s Semi Submersible Crane Vessel Sleipnir. The vessel will be built by Sembcorp Marine at its flagship Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore. Heerema’s Sleipnir is one of just a handful of large offshore projects currently running, along with the Johan Sverdrup Field Centre in Norway, where Harding is also a supplier. “Everyone is talking about Sverdrup, but this project is every bit as big, with just as many systems,” said Harding’s regional sales manager Oddgeir Mælen.

MAN Diesel and Turbo to Power Giant Crane Vessel

MAN Diesel & Turbo has signed a contract with Sembcorp Marine in Singapore to supply the dual-fuel propulsion system – including exhaust-gas after-treatment – for a New Semi-submersible Crane Vessel (NSCV) for Heerema Offshore Services. The scope of the contract – signed on 30 October, 2015 – provides for 12 × MAN 8L51/60DF four-stroke engines + 12 × MAN SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems. MAN Diesel & Turbo states that the total power output of the engines is some 96 MW and believes it – with the exception of power barges – to be one of the largest engine installations the world has ever seen aboard a single ship. Certainly, it is the first vessel of this size to feature dualfuel technology and, upon completion, will be the largest vessel of its kind globally.

SembCorp Bags US$1bn Semi-sub Deal

Sembcorp Marine has signed an engineering and construction contract worth about US$1 billion to build the world's largest semi-submersible crane vessel for a unit of Netherlands-based Heerema Offshore Services B.V. Scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2018, the DP3 semi-submersible crane vessel (NSCV) is designed for the installation and decommissioning of major offshore facilities. The contract follows a letter-of-intent to build the vessel signed between Sembmarine's wholly owned subsidiary Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd and Heerema Offshore Services in March this year. It will be equipped with two Huisman heavy-lifting offshore cranes of 10,000 MT lifting capacity each and a large reinforced work deck area.

Heerema Signs LOI with Jurong Shipyard for Giant Crane Vessel

Dutch offshore contractor Heerema Offshore Services has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Sembcorp Marine’s Jurong Shipyard in Singapore for the construction of the world’s largest semi-submersible crane vessel (NSCV). The vessel will be equipped with two cranes, each with 10,000-tonne lifting capacity, designed and built by Netherlands-based Huisman Equipment. The cranes designed and under construction by Huisman Equipment, will provide heavy lifting capacity to install and remove offshore facilities and can also be utilized for the installation of subsea structures, foundations, moorings, and floating structures in deep water. The cranes will be used to install subsea structures, foundations, moorings, and floating structures in deepwater.

Huisman Delivers Crane to Deep Water Construction Vessel

Huisman and Heerema Offshore Services signed a Letter of Intent for the delivery of all mission equipment onboard Heerema’s new Deep Water Construction Vessel. Huisman will design, construct and install a 4,000mt Offshore Mast Crane and a pipelay tower for both J-lay and Reel-lay operations in ultra deep water. Installation of equipment is scheduled for 2012/2013, partly at the DSME yard in South Korea and partly at the Huisman quay in Schiedam, The Netherlands. The heavy lift crane will have a revolving lift capacity of 4,000mt.
