Signal, Heidmar Join Forces on Tanker Fleet

Greek commercial ship management company Signal Maritime Services and tanker vessel trader Heidmar join forces to deliver commercial management to the global tanker market.Both companies have agreed a milestone partnership, under which Signal will manage a joint tanker fleet using its proprietary technology and analytical approach, said a press release.Signal’s Artificial-Intelligence-backed solution to pool management has consistently delivered superior earnings to its pool members since its launch in 2018.Commercial management of 18 Aframax vessels in Heidmar’s Sigma Pool will be handled by Signal with immediate effect, with a transition period of one month.Signal will also be working with the Heidmar team to manage the LR2 vessels in its Sigma Pool…

FSL Trust Pact with Heidmar’s Sigma Pool for Two Vessels

Singapore-based FSL Trust Management (FSLTM), as trustee-manager of First Ship Lease Trust  announced a new pool agreement for the two LR2 vessels, 2006 built and each 109,672 DWT, FSL Piraeus (ex-Torm Margrethe) and FSL Perth (ex-Torm Marie), which have recently returned from their bareboat charters and have now been renamed.The Trust has established a new business relationship with Heidmar as these vessels enter into the Sigma Pool.Heidmar Inc, founded in 1984, is one of the world’s leading commercial tanker operators with a fleet of approximately 80 ships, including VLCC, Suezmax, Aframax / LR2, and Panamax vessels.Roger Woods, Chief Executive Officer of FSL Trust commented: "We are delighted to be working along with a reputable and knowledgeable partner like Heidmar.

Heidmar Names New CEO

Norwalk-headquartered tanker operator Heidmar has appointed James Pippard as its new Chief Executive Officer. James will oversee  the global footprint of the Company's five Pools, with offices in Norwalk, CT, London and Singapore. James is a respected and successful figure in the tanker shipping industry and during his 25 years at Teekay, he has worked in a variety of commercial management roles in Houston, Vancouver, London and Singapore and will be blending his experience into Heidmar’s pooling business to create  value for its partners and customers. ‘Green’ Hybrid-powered Research Vessel Christened

The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk christened a larger, “greener” new research vessel on Friday, September 26 in preparation for launching a new era in examining, monitoring and teaching about Long Island Sound. The $2.7 million environmentally friendly research vessel, Spirit of the Sound, was christened and officially named during a ceremony at the Aquarium dock. Breaking a bottle on her hull was godmother of the boat, Astrid Heidenreich of Greenwich. The boat will reportedly be the first research vessel in the U.S. running on hybrid-electric propulsion.

Heidmar CEO Marc La Monte Passes Away

Heidmar reported the unexpected passing of Marc La Monte of Wilton, Connecticut. Mr. La Monte passed away while on a business flight in Europe on the morning of October 14th. La Monte was a widely respected member of the international shipping industry for 27 years. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Heidmar Inc. from April 2012. Prior to becoming CEO, La Montehad been the Managing Director of Heidmar’s VLCC tanker pool, Seawolf Tankers. La Monte spent 16 years at Overseas Shipping Group in various positions, including vice president of OSG’s LNG tanker business.

New Leadership Named at Heidmar

Norwalk, CT -- The Board of Directors of Heidmar Holdings LLC, the holding company for Heidmar Inc. (the "Company"), has announced that it has selected its new Executive team to lead the Company. Marc La Monte has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Heidmar Inc., and Per Heilmann has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer. These leadership appointments are effective immediately and will position Heidmar to focus on its growth, providing pool management services to independent tanker owners. New York Shipping Conference: The New Normal

Examining key industry drivers is the focus of the 17th annual Hellenic-American and Norwegian-American Chambers of Commerce annual conference, often called the New York Shipping Conference. Entitled “Challenges & Opportunities for the Shipping Industry: Is There a New Normal?” the conference will present the macro shipping and economic overview, the impact of increasing environmental regulation on the shipping market, the availability of capital and its many forms, the growing influence of China and India on Shipping, and shipowners’ points of view. The event will be held on Tuesday, February 8th at the Waldorf-Astoria (a new venue for this event) starting at 0815 with conference registration and coffee.

Shippingefficiency.org Passes 25,000 Visitors in First Month

Carbon War Room, a not-for-profit organization targeting market-driven solutions to climate change, announced the launch of a series of online and live seminars for shipping industry participants on its Shippingefficiency.org online service - launched at the UN climate change talks in December. By the end of 2010, the site had logged over 25,000 visitors, while over 1,500 users had registered to make full use of the online service. The seminars aim to respond to questions from the industry about the design of the service, and its use. The aim of the new online data hub is to enable market participants to more easily factor in vessel efficiency to their decision making.

Greater Access to INTERTANKO Database

Access to INTERTANKO's Terminal Vetting Database (TVD) is now available to those who are tanker owners/operators, terminal owners/operators, PSC authorities and others with a legitimate interest in improving safety, but who are not Members or Associate Members of the Association. Access to the TVD continues to remain free of charge, although access still requires agreement and compliance with the TVD's terms and conditions of use. Castillo Joins T&T Bisso

The T&T Bisso Response Network announced the addition of Mirian Castillo to its team. Castillo will serve as operations assistant for the company’s Salvage & Emergency Response group. Born in Ecuador, Castillo began her career as an operations intern for Gulf Agency Company in Houston. She became a port disbursement analyst for Heidmar Inc., a commercial operator of tanker vessels based in Norwalk, Conn., and was later promoted to vetting and quality coordinator in support of tanker vetting and fleet management operations.

Heidmar, W-O Shipping Joint Tanker Venture

Heidmar Inc. and W-O Shipping Group B.V. have agreed on terms for the formation of a joint venture, WOMAR Holdings LLC, to commercially manage small and intermediate size IMO II/Chemical and other tankers less than 30,000 DWT. Heidmar's Marida Tanker pool and W-O Shipping's Yamuna and Ganges pools will become part of the joint venture and will be managed by WOMAR from offices in Singapore and London.  The intent of the joint venture is to provide tanker owners in this market segment with worldwide market coverage and it will initially have a combined fleet of over thirty tankers ranging in size from 3,750DWT to 16,700DWT. Star Tankers Pool Expands

Heidmar Inc. announced on Feb. 12 that longstanding pool member, Tsakos Shipping and Trading S. A., entered the M/T Selini into the Star Tankers pool on January 12, 2009. A second new building, the M/T Salamina, is scheduled to enter the Star Tankers pool in mid-February. Both vessels were built at Sungdong Shipyard in Korea. Heidmar also announced that Sanko Steamship Co. has committed two additional vessels to the Star Tankers pool. The M/T Moonlight Venture entered the pool on January 17, 2009 and the M/T Larvik will enter in March. With the delivery of these four vessels, the Star Tankers pool will consist of a fleet of 35 modern, double hull panamax tankers, which trade on a world-wide basis and carry both crude oil and petroleum products.

Sigma Tankers Expands Fleet

Heidmar Inc. announced that Mercator Lines Limited of India China Shipping Development and Conti Reederei of Germany will be joining the Sigma Tankers pool and that Emirates Trading Agency of Dubai an existing member of both Sigma and the Heidmar managed Dorado Tankers pool, will be entering two more vessels into Sigma Tankers. Mercator and China Shipping, also members of the Dorado Tankers pool, will enter one vessel each into Sigma Tankers. Conti will take delivery of two coated LR2 tankers from Hyundai Heavy Industries in 2009. These two vessels have been fixed on time charters and will be entered into Sigma Tankers at the end of these charters. Sigma Tankers recently entered the clean LR2 trade with the delivery of two newbuildings in July and September.

Heidenreich Marine Implements New Organizational Structure

Heidenreich Marine plans to implement a new organizational structure. The purpose of the new structure is to better serve the company's existing customers and pool partners and to facilitate Heidmar's growth in oil transportation and related industries. A new parent company, which will be called Heidmar Inc. will be formed to provide oversight of all the Heidmar companies and to manage the strategic growth of the organization. Per Heidenreich, currently the President of HMI, will become the Chairman and CEO of Heidmar. Charles Tammara, who is currently a Vice President and CFO of HMI, will become an Executive Vice President and CFO of Heidmar.

Overseas Shipholding Buys Heidmar Unit

Overseas Shipholding Group Inc., which owns and operates a fleet of crude oil and petroleum products tankers, completed the purchase of Heidmar Inc.'s lightering business for $41m in cash. Heidmar is a unit of Morgan Stanley Capital Group Inc. Lightering involves the transfer of oil cargo between vessels of largely different sizes when port facilities aren't able to accept large ocean-faring oil tankers. The deal includes a fleet of four international flag Aframax tankers and two U.S. flag workboats that provide lightering services to refiners, oil companies and trading firms, mostly in the Gulf of Mexico.
