Hellespont Strengthens German Base

The Hellespont Group strengthened its global base in Hamburg, Germany, by buying out the two minority partners in its Hamburg-based shipmanagement company and reshaping its corporate organization. The 25 percent each minority interests held by HCI Capital AG and Peter Doehle Schiffahrts KG in Hellespont Hammonia GmbH & Co KG have been bought out. Hellespont Hammonia has been renamed Hellespont Ship Management GmbH & Co KG, and is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Hellespont group parent company, which has been renamed Hellespont Deutschland GmbH.

Marlink's Sealink (TM) for Hellespont Tankers

Marlink, the global provider of satellite communications to the maritime industry, has recently signed a new five year agreement with Hellespont Hammonia GmbH & Co. KG. The contract includes the delivery and installation of Marlink's Sealink(TM) C-band services onboard four new build chemical tankers, which are managed by Hellespont Hammonia. In addition, Marlink will provide a range of services including Prepaid Talk for crew telephony and VPN for communication between the vessels and Hellespont HQ.

Hellespont Pride is Named

Hellespont Hammonia completed the naming of the Hellespont Pride, one of six tankers under construction for the company at New Century Shipbuilding Co Ltd in Jingjiang, China. The panamax product carrier, the first in the series originally ordered by Seatramp Tankers Inc. in 2004, was named by Nathalie Baroness von Oldershausen, wife of the managing director of the Hamburg-based KG house, Hanseatische Capital Invest (HCI), which is financing this series of vessels for the owners. The mortgagee is HSH Nordbank. Charterers of the Hellespont Pride are The Sanko Steamship Co Ltd. of Tokyo, Japan. The vessel will be managed by Hellespont Hammonia GmbH & Co KG. The 38,000 grt Hellespont Pride has an LOA of 228.60 m and a deadweight of 73,400 tonnes at a scantling draft of 14.3 m.
