Cargotec Reorganizes Kalmar

Finnish cargo-handling machinery manufacturer Cargotec said it has reorganized the businesses under its Kalmar brand and has appointed Stefan Lampa as President of Kalmar Mobile Solutions, in a move aimed at enhancing Kalmar's growth opportunities.Kalmar, a provider of cargo handling solutions and services to ports, terminals, distribution centers and heavy industry, will be reorganized into three strategic business units: Kalmar Mobile Solutions, Kalmar Automation Solutions and Navis, effective April 1, 2019. Cargotec's financial reporting structure based on three business areas Kalmar, Hiab and MacGregor will remain unchanged.Lampa has been appointed President of Kalmar Mobile Solutions and a member of the Cargotec Executive Board.

Effer Becomes Part of Hiab

Loader crane manufacturer Hiab, part of Cargotec, has completed the acquisition of  Effer loader cranes business from the CTE group.According to a press release from Hiab, the signing of the transaction was announced on 31 July 2018. For Hiab as the global leader in on-road load handling solutions, this acquisition means a significant advancement in its ambition to be leader in cranes and preferred partner for its customers.Effer, headquartered in Minerbio, Italy, and with approximately 400 employees, is a renowned premium knuckle-boom crane manufacturer. Effer's product range includes truck loader cranes, special application truck cranes, and marine cranes, with particular recognition for heavy cranes >100 tm capacity.

Scott Phillips Appointed Hiab President

Scott Phillips has been appointed President of Hiab crane manufacturing division of Cargotec group as of 1 October 2018. He will be a member of the Cargotec Executive Board and report to CEO Mika Vehviläinen. Scott Phillips joins Cargotec from General Electric where he holds the position of Vice President and CEO Mining. Prior to that, he has during his 28 years' career held various global leadership positions in the construction and mining industries, working for Sandvik and Caterpillar Inc., among others. "I warmly welcome Scott to Cargotec and Hiab. He has a proven track record of leading global, multi-billion euro technology businesses in various geographies.

MacGregor Sets up Head Office in Singapore

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has established a head office in Singapore, bringing to an end a period of more than three years where the company operated with a virtual head office. MacGregor president Michel van Roozendaal and vice president of finance Jani Oksanen will relocate to Singapore as of October 1, 2017. With a global customer base and large geographic span of operations, MacGregor said it will maintain its strong presence in Europe, where a majority of the company's competence centers are located.

Cargotec Sales Figures Plummet

Cargotec Corporation said that the orders received for H1 for the period of January-June 2017 decreased 4 percent and totalled EUR 1.7bln (USD 1.9bln). The total sales declined 5 percent and totalled EUR 1,638 for the period. However, Cargotec reiterates its outlook published on 8 February 2017 and expects its operating profit excluding restructuring costs for 2017 to improve from 2016 (EUR 250.2 million). Cargotec's CEO Mika Vehviläinen said: "The development of our business continued to be positive during the second quarter of 2017. The operating profit, excluding restructuring costs, was the highest in Cargotec's history. "In Kalmar, the orders received declined compared to last year. Nevertheless, the customer interest in port automation solutions continued to be high.

China Orders 100 Loader Cranes from Hiab

Hiab, part of Cargotec, has signed a contract to supply a minimum of 100 HIAB light-range loader cranes for a leading wind turbine manufacturer in China. The order with a value of approximately EUR 1.5 million was received at the end of January 2017. The loader cranes for nacelle service are used when lifting service and maintenance parts up to the wind turbines. The agreement also includes training for operators and service personnel. Offshore wind energy is a booming industry where Asia is one of the major growth areas. "We appreciate the good communication with Hiab and the highest quality we get with the product. Safety is for us the first priority and Hiab always puts an emphasis on  providing cranes with the highest safety standards in the industry," says the customer representative.

Hall to lead Hiab, Sales and Services

Hiab, part of Cargotec, has appointed Scott Hall as Senior Vice President, Sales & Services as of 24 January 2017. Scott Hall will lead Hiab's global Sales & Services function and drive sales and services excellence across Hiab's global network. He will report to Hiab's President Roland Sundén and be a member of the Hiab Leadership Team. Scott Hall brings with him extensive experience from leading positions in international sales and business management at globally operating companies. Before joining Hiab in 2015, he worked more than ten years at Volvo Construction Equipment being responsible for global sales and marketing, his most recent position being President and CEO of Volvo Rents.

Hiab Extends Warranty HIAB Loader Crane Models

Hiab, part of Cargotec, has decided on an extended warranty that covers all HIAB loader crane models. The warranty will be valid for all loader cranes delivered as of 1 October 2016. Hiab offers its customers five year warranty on structural components as well as general warranty of two years. The extended warranty was announced first in connection to the IAA exhibition in Hannover, Germany. "HIAB loader cranes are all about performance. The combination of control, safety and reliability is unique in the industry. With the extended warranty we want to show our customers that when investing in a HIAB loader crane they will always get the best possible performance with the equipment," says Joakim Andersson, Senior Vice President, Loader Cranes, Hiab.

Hiab Launches HIAB X-HiPro 232, Mid-range Innovations

Hiab, part of Cargotec, is renewing its mid-range loader cranes with 24 totally new models which will be launched in connection to upcoming exhibitions in Elmia, Sweden and IAA, Germany. "Our new product strategy is based on our customers' way of working rather than on capacity and tonne metres. We have focused on ensuring that the new mid-range selection offers a variety of control systems that serve our end-users' everyday work in the best possible way," says Joakim Andersson, Senior Vice President, Loader Cranes, Hiab. Hiab Presents Latest Forestry Crane at KWF Exhibition

Hiab, part of Cargotec, will bring its latest forestry crane innovations to KWF exhibition in Rodin, Germany on 9-12 June. We welcome you to our stand A2-150 to meet the LOGLIFT and JONSERED specialists and familiarise with our innovations. In KWF, LOGLIFT and JONSERED forestry and recycling cranes celebrate their 50th and 55th anniversary in the market and will launch the new LOGLIFT 140Z and 150Z forestry cranes with several new features including Hydraulic Pilot Control, SafetyPlusTM system as well as a new seat with better safety, ergonomics and visibility. The lifting capacity of the new crane series varies between 14 and 15 tonne metres. Hiab's HiVisionTM 3D control system is also presented in KWF together with a simulator.

Cargotec Logs Higher Profits

* Orders received decreased 4 percent and totalled EUR 903 (939) million. * Order book amounted to EUR 2,095 (31 Dec 2015: 2,064) million at the end of the period. * Sales declined 7 percent and totalled EUR 828 (889) million. * Operating profit excluding restructuring costs increased 12 percent and was EUR 58.5 (52.3) million, representing 7.1 (5.9) percent of sales. * Operating profit was EUR 57.7 (51.3) million, representing 7.0 (5.8) percent of sales. * Cash flow from operations before financial items and taxes totalled EUR 90.8 (51.6) million. * Net income for the period amounted to EUR 39.1 (36.4) million. * Earnings per share was EUR 0.61 (0.56). Cargotec's 2016 sales are expected to be at the 2015 level (EUR 3,729 million) or slightly below.

Hiab Introduces MULTILIFT Optima

Update on Hiab's iLoad Project

Hiab, part of Cargotec, reports on the results of the iLoad project, which received EUR1.4 million funding from the EU's Industrial and Academy Partnerships. The two main outcomes of the project are Model Based Design and light weight design. In 2013, Hiab started a research cooperation project iLoad together with two Polish university partners: West Pomeranian University of Technology and the Silesian University of Technology. During the project, the focus has been in developing the control systems of the future load handling, as well as exploring new materials and joining techniques. The project underpins Hiab's commitment to remain the clear technological leader by championing forward-thinking and innovative product development.

Hiab launches VSL PLUS for Crane Stability

Hiab, part of Cargotec, will officially launch a new stability feature for its heavy crane range, VSL PLUS, at the Bedrijfsauto RAI 2015 exhibition in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Variable Stability Limit PLUS (VSL PLUS) is a revolutionary safety system that automatically regulates crane capacity in relation to the actual stability of the vehicle whilst it is working, by sensing the position of each stabiliser leg, and whether there is a load on the truck. It is designed to protect the crane operator, people nearby, and the crane and vehicle outfit. It gives major benefits in improved safety and stability, by taking the total weight of the truck into account when calculating stability.

CCF wins Hiab's MOFFETT Charity Forklift Auction

MOFFETT, part of Cargotec's Hiab business area, announced that CCF Limited, part of Travis Perkins plc, is the winner of its 70th anniversary charity auction. CCF placed the winning bid of €53,000 for the privilege of owning a unique, tailor-made, anniversary edition MOFFETT truck mounted forklift. MOFFETT will donate all of the money raised from the winning bid to charity. On behalf of CCF, Graham Bellman, Group Fleet Director, Travis Perkins plc, said: "We have worked with Hiab for many years, and the idea of supporting one of our partnership suppliers in such a worthy cause was something we wanted to get involved with. Hiab Appoints Jansson-Kiuru as VP-Human Resources

Hiab, part of Cargotec, has appointed Ghita Jansson-Kiuru as Vice President, Human Resources. She will be responsible for Hiab's global human resources strategy and development. The starting date is open until her succession is in place, however, it will be no later than in October. Ghita has more than 20 years of excellent track record of international HR and leadership development during, which she has held various positions in HR, general management, marketing, operation, and sales. Most recently, Ghita worked as Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Metsä Tissue. Ghita has a Master's Degree in International Marketing from the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration in Helsinki, Finland. She will be located in Helsinki, Finland.

Hiab to Launch the New Z-series Crane

Hiab launched the HIAB Z-HiPro 191 and HIAB Z-PRO 171 crane. Hiab to launch MULTILIFT Futura - a new-generation skiploader

Hiab, part of Cargotec, is set to launch a new generation skiploader, MULTILIFT Futura. The new skiploader with over 100 smart innovations is designed to lift the customer's business to new levels of productivity, safety and flexibility. Hiab Crowns World's First Crane Champ

Hiab, part of Cargotec, declared Johnny Jensen from Denmark as the first ever World Crane Champion. The Competition was held today at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, U.K. with a winning time of 2 minutes 18 seconds. Mr Jensen is taking away a prize of €25,000. The first runner up was Tobias Bergström from Sweden, with a finishing time of 2:30, and Martin Utpatel from Germany came in third place, with a time of 2:37. To become World Crane Champion, Johnny Jensen manoeuvred a state-of-the-art HIAB X-HiPro 192 through a series of obstacles. The aim of the competition was to try and beat a time set by the anonymous crane pro 'Eric' - Hiab's very own The Stig - on a challenging course which included toppling water-filled drums with a load whilst keeping the crane below a crossbar.

Hiab to Present World Crane Championship Finals

Hiab, part of Cargotec, is presenting its latest product innovations together with the World Crane Championship finals at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, UK on 14-16 April. The CV Show is the largest and most comprehensive road freight transport event staged in Britain. Finalists of Hiab's World Crane Championship

Hiab, part of Cargotec, has selected the finalists who will take part in the first ever World Crane Championships at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, United Kingdom, on 14-16 April 2015. The 18 contestants, who have won their places after qualifying through rounds held in 13 different countries, will be competing to take away a EUR 25,000 prize. To prove they have what it takes, those competing for the title of World Crane Champion will manoeuver a HIAB X-HiPro 192 through a series of obstacles, trying to beat a time set by the anonymous crane pro 'Eric' - Hiab's very own The Stig - who is so named after Eric Sundin, who co-founded Hiab in 1944.
