European Consortium Launches 3D Project

A consortium of 11 European stakeholders including ArcelorMittal, Axens, IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) and Total, launched a project to demonstrate an innovative process for capturing CO2 from industrial activities named the DMX project.It is part of a more comprehensive study dedicated to the development of the future European Dunkirk North Sea capture and storage cluster.The “3D” project (for DMXTM Demonstration in Dunkirk) is part of Horizon 2020, the European Union’s research and innovation program.The project has a 19.3 million euro budget over 4 years, including 14.8 million euros in European Union subsidies. Damen launched two new ballast water treatment solutions onto the market, Damen LoFlo and Damen BalCon. The new solutions are a response to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Ballast Water Management Convention 2004, which is edging ever closer to ratification and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Ballast Water Management regulations already in force. Rickmers Shipmanagement Achieves ISO 50001 Certification

Rickmers becomes the first German company operating in the maritime industry and one of only a handful of shipping companies in the world to achieve certification to the ISO 50001 Energy Management System standard. Rickmers Shipmanagement received the accredited ISO 50001 certification from GL Systems Certification (GL) for its offices in Hamburg and Singapore, as well as for ten ships from its fleet. The handover of the certificates took place at the Rickmers head office in Hamburg on the 10th of January 2013.
