Noble Reports 2013 Results

Noble Corporation has reported fourth quarter 2013 net income of $174 million, or $0.68 per diluted share. Results for the fourth quarter included an after tax charge of $36 million, or $0.14 per diluted share, relating to an impairment taken on the FPSO Seillean. Excluding the impairment charge, net income for the fourth quarter would have totaled $210 million, or $0.82 per diluted share. For the third quarter of 2013, the Company reported net income of $282 million, or $1.10 per diluted share, which included after tax gains totaling approximately $63 million, or $0.25 per diluted share.

Mariner Energy Discusses Hornbeck-LEEVAC Announcement

Mariner Energy, Inc. announced that consistent with the scheduled completion of its 2001 drilling program, it released the Noble Homer Ferrington semi-submersible rig and two offshore supply vessels owned by Hornbeck-LEEVAC Marine Services. Mariner has been pleased with the performance of Noble's semi-submersible to date and expects to continue utilization of the rig in its 2002 drilling program. Under the terms of Mariner's drilling contract with Noble, the term of Mariner's commitment to use the Homer Ferrington is not a single continuous period but, rather, occurs intermittently and is subject to the usage rights retained by Noble and those owned by others during their applicable "drilling slots".

Signal Completes Upgrade of The Noble Homer Ferrington

Signal International, LLC has completed a major refurbishment and upgrade of Noble Drilling’s Homer Ferrington semi-submersible drilling rig. The work was completed at Signal International’s East Facility in Pascagoula, Miss. Prefabrication started in February 2004 in anticipation of the rig’s arrival in July. The drill-ready rig departed on schedule and within budget after 109 working days. · Complete zero discharge piping system and misc. Planning, organizing and controlling of the project were executed through a fully integrated (customer/contractor/subcontractor) process. This resulted in the on-time and on-budget delivery of a world-class high-performance mobile offshore drilling unit.

Vessel Deliveries

California Fish & Game recently took delivery of P/V Thresher, a 54 ft. all-aluminum catamaran, designed by Teknicraft of Aukland, New Zealand, and built by Kvichak Marine, of Seattle, Wash. The partially foil-supported catamaran will be stationed in Dana Point as a Fish and Game Marine Enforcement patrol vessel for Southern California. The cat's beam is 20.2 ft., and weighs nearly 28 tons fully loaded. Powered by twin Caterpillar 3196 DITA diesel engines, driving 30 in. stainless steel propellers through Twin Disc MG 5114A gears, Thresher cruises at 26 knots with a top speed of 30 knots. Deck equipment includes an aft deck A-frame to deploy and retrieve a customer-supplied Hurricane inflatable.

Noble Drilling Files Suit

Noble Drilling Corporation, along with its subsidiaries Noble Drilling Services Inc. and Noble Drilling (U.S.) Inc., has filed suit against Samedan Oil Corporation and Mariner Energy, Inc. for breach of contract. In recent years, Noble Drilling has focused on increasing the number of rigs in its fleet capable of deepwater offshore drilling. A principal component of this deepwater strategy has been the conversion and upgrade of rigs to drill in water depths greater than 5,000 ft. Five of the six rigs in this program have been delivered under long-term contracts. Noble Max Smith was delivered on December 22, 1999 for use by Amerada Hess Corporation.

Noble Drilling Reaches Agreement

Noble Drilling Corporation has negotiated a resolution to the dispute with Mariner Energy, Inc. regarding the use by Mariner of Noble's newly converted semisubmersible, Noble Homer Ferrington. As announced on January 10, 2000, Noble had previously filed suit against Mariner and Samedan Oil Corporation for breach of contract regarding the use of the rig. As part of the settlement, Mariner and Noble have executed agreements covering use of Noble Homer Ferrington at variable dayrates for 660 days during a five-year period. Noble will also receive working interests in seven of Mariner's deepwater exploration prospects. Mariner will pay Noble's share of the drilling costs during the initial test well on each of those prospects. Noble Homer Ferrington, which is rated to drill in 6,000 ft.
