Wood Wins LNG Platform FEED Contract

The Honghua Group Limited has awarded a $12 million front-end engineering design (FEED) contract to Wood for its liquefied natural gas (LNG) platform development in the West Delta area of the Gulf of Mexico. The main objective of the FEED is to finalize the design of the world’s first offshore platform-based natural gas liquefaction and storage facility. Wood recently completed the pre-FEED for this project. Wood’s scope of work includes the onshore gas pre-treatment plant configuration and layouts, general utilities, feed gas processing and compression, and transportation and delivery via repurposed pipelines from the existing onshore Toca and Venice, Louisiana, facilities to the LNG facility 10 miles offshore.

FSP LNG Containment System Construction To Begin Soon

The joint venture group FSP LNG BV stated that it is taking the FSP LNG Flat Panel Semi-membrane Prismatic Type B containment system through General Design Approval (GDA) with the American Bureau of Shipping in Houston, and is projecting that construction of the first tank will begin at the end of this year. Formed earlier this year to take the FSP LNG containment system through the general approval process, the group comprises Braemar Engineering, Honghua Group EnTX and Jamestown Marine Metals. In a joint statement, Chairman Zhang Mi, Chairman and President of Honghua Group, and Geoff Green, Managing Director of Braemar Engineering, said that “substantial progress has been made to date, and this is expected to continue going forward”.

Honghua Wins Order for 200 LNG Vessels

Honghua Group Ltd. informs it has signed a shipbuilding deal with LNG Power Shipping Ltd. for the construction of 200 eco-friendly inland river ships to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The contract, worth approximately RMB760 million ($122.4 million USD), will see Honghua build and sell 200 LNG-powered inland vessels, including 700-ton ships, 950-ton ships and 1,350-ton ships. The builder expects to deliver all of the vessels by the end of September 2016. Honghua Group chairman Zhang Mi commented on the deal, saying, “The LNG powered ships that [Honghua Group] will build are a new type of environment-friendly transportation vessel, directly responding to the concept of environment protection and energy saving.

Honghua Group Wins Rig Contract from Orion

Chinese rig builder Honghua Group has been awarded a contract by Orion Engineering and Management Ltd  to build a semi-submersible drilling rig, with options to build three more. According to a statement released by Honghua, the rig deal worth US$320 million was signed by its offshore outfit Honghua Offshore Oil & Gas Jiangsu Company Ltd. According to the Agreement the order is expected to be executed within 60 days. The option to purchase an additional 3 rig units with the same specification of the Rig from Honghua Offshore under the same conditions each respectively will be at an interval of six-months. The Rig and Option Units under the Letter of Award will be equipped with the Company’s in-house design and manufacture drilling package.

HongHua Group Signs Agreement for GE Waukesha Gas Engines

With China seeking to boost its production of unconventional gas supplies to meet Asia's growing energy needs, GE Power & Water's Distributed Power business (NYSE: GE) and China's leading drill rig manufacturer HongHua Group (HK 196) today signed a three-year agreement for GE to supply its Waukesha VHP gas engines that will power drill rigs used in new shale gas projects in China. The announcement was made at the Offshore Technology Conference being held in Houston. In recent years, GE's gas engine factory in Waukesha, Wisconsin, has seen orders steadily increase as more countries seek to develop their domestic natural gas resources to increase their local energy independence.
