Iran said on Thursday it had a court order to seize a tanker in Gulf waters a day earlier after it collided with an Iranian vessel, one of two tankers the U.S. Navy said it prevented Iran from commandeering. 109 Vessels Ready for Iranian New Year

109 Vessels vessels with a capacity of 6000 passengers ready for Nowruz, the Iranian New Year, also known as the Persian New Year.“800 hundred executives providing 24-hour services in Marine Travel Facility plan during Nowruz” said Allah Morad Afifipour, Director General of Ports and Maritime of Hormozgan.Afifipour said in a statement that there are 49 passenger vessels with 5,361 seats and 59 landing craft with caspacity of 1,960 vehicles.Of these, four thousand and 90 seats are available in the port of Shahid Haghani and majority o9f landing crafts are in Bandar-e-Pul and Lahat.This Nowruz is the second year in which guests take on board, and this is welcomed by Marine guests.

Iranian Ports Records 78% Growth in Non-oil Transit

Iran's Director of Ports and Maritime office of Lengeh port announced an increase of 78 percent in non-oil transit, a 19 percent increase in safe passenger transport and an increase of 86 percent in container loading and unloading at ports in west of Hormozgan.Ghasem Askari Nasab, reporting on the nine-month performance of the ports of West of Hormozgan in 2017, stated that during this period, a total of 6 million and 759,558 tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded at these ports.Of the 1,470,776 tons of non-oil products in the ports of this region, Lengeh port with transit of more than 994 thousand tons observed a growth of 6%.

Austalia, Iran Sign Shipbuilding Pact

The Australian government decided to increase cooperation with Tehran in marine industries and shipbuilding irrespective of the US sanctions, reports Mehr News Agency, quoting the deputy head of Iran's Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO).After meeting  Australian Ambassador Ian Biggs, Mohammad Nouri Amiri, deputy head of  IDRO said that in spite of the US sanctions, Australia will cooperate with Iran in newly-developed marine industries and shipbuilding know-how and technology.He said that the aim of the visit of the Australian ambassador and his accompanying delegation to Hormozgan was to kickstart joint cooperation…

MSC Tests Iranian Waters

The Geneva-based Swiss company, Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC), which is the world’s second-largest shipping line in terms of container vessel capacity, has returned to Iran more than six years after it docked at an Iranian port the last time. According to Tasnim news agency, the Swiss ship MSC Domitille arrived at the second terminal of largest Iranian port Shahid Rajaee on Thursday. This follows the implementation of a recent nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers, which will terminate all anti-Iran sanctions. Ebrahim Eidani, the director-general of Ports and Maritime Organization of Hormozgan province, said the ship was the first one belonging to the Swiss company docking in Iran after six years.

Taiwan’s Evergreen Resume Traffic in Iran's Shahid Rajaee Port

Taiwan’s Evergreen Marine Corp. has authorized one of its huge container ships to berth at Shahid Rajaei port in southern Iranian province of Hormozgan, reports Press TV. Ebrahim Idani, director general of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Department, was quoted by Iranian media as saying on Tuesday that the fifth-generation container ship, Ever Legion, has started its journey from China’s Shanghai port and will call at various ports in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates’ Jebel Ali Free Zone before berthing at Shahid Rajaei port, which is Iran's biggest container port. The official noted that the Taiwanese ship is 335 meters long with a draft of 14.5 meters and is scheduled to arrive at Shahid Rajaei port on August 5.

CMA CGM to Reinstate Iran as Port of Call

The Marseille-based French company CMA CGM S.A has announced readiness to start operation in Iran on August 6. CMA CGM,  the world’s third-largest shipping line in terms of container vessel capacity,  will add Shahid Rajaei port in Iran to its Asia-Europe loop. Ebrahim Idani, director general of Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Department, told local media that CMA CGM's 11,500 teu Andromeda is expected to call in August. The French liner’s first priority is establishment of a shipping route to Iran and then make investment in the Islamic Republic’s maritime industry and development of ports, the Tasnim News Agency reported on Sunday quoting Jalil Eslami, the deputy director of  Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) for the ports affairs, as saying.

Germany Mulls Maritime Ties with Iran

Germany and Iran seeks to develop economic relations in the field of maritime trade and ports for increasing the trade volume between the two countries, reports PressTV. German Ambassador to Tehran Michael Baron von Ungern was quoted by Fars news agency as saying that increased cooperation between the two countries’ ports will certainly boost the volume of trade between Tehran and Berlin. Germany is a major trade partner for Iran and both sides are willing to develop maritime cooperation between Iran’s Rajaei port and German’s Hormozgan port that are going to be key players in this trade deal. The Rajaei port conforms to international standards and infrastructures for the exchange of goods between two countries.

Iran Sets Up Strait of Hormuz Naval Base

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have established a new naval base in the vital oil tankship transit Strait of Hormuz. According to Iran's Fars news agency, as reported by Ria Novosti, the base, the fifth in the region, is located near Iran's southern port city of Bandar Lengeh in the Hormozgan province, some 1,100 km (700 miles) south of the capital Tehran. Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz at the end of the Persian Gulf in response to any attack from outside. Iran’s largest naval bases are at the head of the Gulf, around 450 kilometers from the strait, which is just 45 kilometers wide at its narrowest point.
