New Propulsion Couplings to Launch at Workboat
Renold Hi-Tec Couplings, of Halifax, U.K., will debut a new range of high temperature, marine propulsion rubber-in-compression couplings on booth 3809 at the International Workboat Show in New Orleans from December 3-5, 2014. The new HTB-MP range is a second generation of couplings based on the existing HTB-GS range. According to the manufacturer, the intrinsically fail-safe nature of rubber-in-compression couplings ensures continuous operation and avoids the loss of drive that could be experienced with other coupling types as a result of failure.

'Missing Link' LNG Bunker Barge Concept
NLI Solutions (NLI) has developed a concept for a LNG Bunker Barge (often described as the 'missing link' in prospective LNG bunkering plans) based on the NLI LNG tank design. The concept has been further developed in a design study together with the Marine division of Rolls-Royce and Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions (WTS). LNG is among the cleanest and most cost efficient options for low emission shipping. Interest in LNG as a marine fuel is rapidly increasing, but one limiting factor is practical availability of LNG bunker facilities.Today…

Renold Develops High Temp Coupling
HTB is a new range of power transmission couplings from Renold Hi-Tec Couplings with the ability to work in heat up to 200 degrees C. The product has reportedly proven to be a hit, even before it officially comes onto the market, as the company reports that several prototypes have been ordered, with models already at work on generating sets in the U.K. and on a pusher tug in the U.S.
