Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri announced Thursday it has floated out the new cruise ship MSC Seashore at its shipyard in Monfalcone. A major European container shipping company has ordered Wärtsilä’s hybrid exhaust gas cleaning equipment and retrofit services to its container vessels, worth EUR 170 million ($197 million).Wärtsilä Services will deliver 50 MW, 60 MW and 70 MW Wärtsilä hybrid scrubber systems which will be retrofitted to its container vessels. Shipbuilder STX France hosted a coin ceremony for MSC Bellissima as well as the cutting of first steel for the MSC Cruises’ first Meraviglia-Plus class ship, representing construction milestones for two of the cruise line’s four new ships simultaneously under construction. The technology group Wärtsilä will supply an extensive range of products and solutions for six new 1160TEU container feeder vessels to be built at the Fujian Mawei shipyard in China. The project has been developed by MarLink Project Management GmbH in Germany together with various investors. This series of state-of-the-art container ships has been designed by German design office abh Ingenieur-Technik GmbH. There are options for a further six vessels. The order for the exhaust scrubbers and BWMS was booked in May 2017, while the order for the remainder of the supply was booked in December 2016.
