Hyde Guardian BWTS for Edison Chouest Fleet

Hyde Marine, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Calgon Carbon Corporation, has been selected as a strategic supply partner for ballast water treatment (BWT) systems by Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) for use on ECO’s fleet of vessels. The chemical free Hyde Guardian Gold BWT system, which has both International Maritime Organization (IMO) Type Approval and United States Coast Guard (USCG) Alternative Management System (AMS) approval, uses efficient filtration and ultraviolet (UV) disinfection to treat ships' ballast water to prevent the spread of invasive species from port to port.

Hyde Guardian BWTS Earns USCG Approval

Calgon Carbon Corporation announced that its Hyde Guardian Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS), developed and manufactured by its wholly owned subsidiary, Hyde Marine, Inc., became one of the first BWTS to earn Alternate Management System (AMS) approval from the United States Coast Guard (USCG). AMS approval is a first step to achieving full USCG Type Approval and is an interim measure that allows these BWTS to be used on vessels for five years after the vessel is required to comply with the USCG Ballast Water Discharge Standards.

Hyde Guardian BWT for Russian Icebreaker

Calgon Carbon Corporation's wholly owned subsidiary, Hyde Marine, Inc., has announced  that its Hyde Guardian  Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) HG600 unit will be installed on the largest icebreaker in the FSUE "Rosmorport" fleet – the 22600 project, a 25 mWt-power diesel vessel. The contract is the first awarded to Hyde Marine in Russia for new vessel construction. The 22600 project will be delivered in 2015 and installed at Baltic Shipyard, one of the leading enterprises in the Russian shipbuilding industry. ABS Type Approval for Hyde Guardian

Hyde Marine, Inc. announced that its Hyde GUARDIAN ballast water treatment system (BWTS) received Type Approval from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) on September 13, 2011. Hyde GUARDIAN was the first BWTS to receive Product Design Assessment (PDA) certification from ABS in April 2010. PDA is the technical approval for equipment and is the first step in receiving ABS Type Approval. Founded in 1862, ABS is a leading international classification society devoted to promoting the security of life, property and the marine environment through the development and verification of standards for the design, construction and operational maintenance of marine-related facilities.

Hyde Guardian for China Newbuild

Hyde Marine, Inc., a leading marine environmental equipment supplier has won a contract for a Hyde Guardian ballast water treatment system from the CSC Chongqing Dongfeng Shipbuilding Corporation. The system will be delivered to the shipyard in early 2010 and installed on a 368 TEU Container ship for US owner, Tropical Shipping with ship delivery scheduled for early 2011. The 250 m3/hr Hyde Guardian system was chosen by the shipyard based on its IMO type approval, competitive pricing, compact and modular design, low power demand, and its demonstrated effectiveness and reliability. The system is fully automatic and will be integrated into the ship’s ballast control system.

Hyde, Alandia Engineering Partnership

Hyde Marine, Inc. and Alandia Engineering OY announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) for Alandia to provide engineering and installation services for the Hyde Guardian ballast water management technology. The partnership allows Hyde to offer its customers an organization to manage the multi-disciplined task of installing ballast water management systems on existing ships.
