Hydro Group wins 'Company of the Year' Subsea UK Awards

Aberdeen-headquartered Hydro Group plc have secured the Company of the Year title at last night’s [Thursday 3 February] Subsea UK Awards. The cable and connector specialist was recognised for its performance in the subsea sector and its significant development to date, as well as its plans for future success and growth, both in the UK and internationally. The annual awards, held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, highlight the achievements of individuals and companies throughout the subsea industry and are the most prestigious awards in the subsea sector. Hydro Strengthens APAC Presence

Aberdeen-headquarted subsea cable and connector specialist Hydro Group plc announces multiple Asia Pacific Business Partner agreements as the firm continues strategic growth in the region. As part of international expansion plans in 2013 the firm formed its Singapore based division, Hydro Group Asia, which has shown an annual increase of sales in the region of over £1.5M. The five new Business Partner agreements with Uni-One in Taiwan, ISL in China, Oceanpixel in the Philippines, PT Indonesia in Indonesia and DKHG in Vietnam will aid Hydro Group’s cabling interconnect solutions presence in these important markets. Expansion Underway at Hydro Group

Aberdeen-based subsea cable and connector specialist Hydro Group, has expanded its premises by investing £2 million in a new 13,700 sq ft bespoke facility, set to open in spring 2016. The company currently occupies a 45,500 sq ft facility at the Aberdeen Energy Park, purchasing the additional 0.63 acres of development land from Buccleuch Property and Moorfield Group (Buccmoor LP) to enable it to expand operations and develop a brand new workshop with mezzanine deck. Doug Whyte, Hydro Group Managing Director, said: “The new facility and additional space was required in order to diversify and develop our business. Hydro Group, an Energy Park occupier since 2008, designs and manufactures underwater cables and connectors for subsea, underwater, topside and onshore applications.

Hydro Group Shortlisted for Made in Scotland Awards

Aberdeen-headquarted, Hydro Group plc is recognised as a finalist at the 2016 Made in Scotland Awards for the categories Manufacturer of the Year and Exporter of the Year. The subsea cable and connector specialist is at the forefront in the development and innovation of subsea product technologies, with involvement from prototype concept through to design, manufacture and project management. The company has been named as a finalist for the Manufacturer of the Year as a result of its continued, and outstanding manufacturing efforts. My original business partner, Mike Redstone, previously worked for Vickers Slingsby which was involved quite extensively with the Ministry of Defense (M.O.D.). At that time, in the late seventies, close involvement with the M.O.D. was commonplace.

Oceans '13 MTS/IEEE San Diego Preview

Heeding the call to join “An Ocean in Common,” authors flooded the Oceans ‘13 MTS/IEEE San Diego technical program committee with a record number of abstracts in a single day. Special topics include an Ultra-deep track discussing current and prospective robotic technologies, plus a panel of scientists to consider research questions. Oceans2013 Chair Bob Wernli, and Co-Chair Kevin Hardy, developer of the unmanned landers for James Cameron’s DeepSea Challenge Expedition, will be the session conveners. “James’ intention is to be certain the door remains open to other explorers,” Hardy said.

Aberdeen-based Hydro Group Plc. a global design and manufacturer of underwater cables and connectors for subsea, underwater, topside and onshore applications, invested £300,000 into research and development in 2012 and has developed the 36kV Dry Mate Hydro Bond Renewable Connector (HRC).
