Sonatrach Orders LPG Vessel from China

Algeria’s state-run oil company Sonatrach has awarded two Chinese firms a $40 million deal to deliver a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier and an option to provide a second vessel, according to a Sonatrach document seen by Reuters. Sonatrach's Hyproc Shipping Company chose Chinese consortium Jiangnan Shipyard and China Shipbuilding Trading Company Ltd for the provision of a carrier with a capacity of between 11,000 and 13,000 m3, the document said. It said an offer from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, a South Korean consortium, had been rejected. Algeria is boosting its transport capacity to meet growing European Union gas demand. Sonatrach currently owns a fleet of ten LPG carriers through its subsidiaries Hyproc Shiping and Sonatrach Petroleum Corporation.

Damen Shiprepair Brest (France) received a booking for the drydocking and repairs of two shuttle tankers managed by Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers A/S. The 88,109 GRT sister vessels Karen Knutsen and Sallie Knutsen expect to arrive end February and Middle of March respectively. Damen Brest’s Managing Director Jos Goris commented, “We are very pleased with the order from Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers. Damen Shiprepair Books 7th LNG Carrier

Damen Shiprepair Brest (France) received her seventh LNG booking for the drydocking, maintenance and repair of the LNG carrier BachirChihan. The Hyproc Shipping owned and managed vessel will arrive November 25. The work scope on the BachirChihaniis extensive and reaches close to 30,000 man-hours. The vessel is expected to stay close to a month in drydock nr 3. damen.com

Damen Shiprepair Brest (France) awarded a second firm booking for the drydocking, maintenance & repair of the LNG carrier ‘Lalla Fatma N’Soumer’. The Hyproc Shipping owned and managed 80,920 dwt vessel will arrive end-September, straight after the shipyard has completed the Bonny Gas Transport ‘LNG SOKOTO’ contract. Hyproc Shipping Chooses AMOS2

During a formal ceremony held at the local Sheraton Hotel in Oran, Algeria on the 9th of September, Giampiero Soncini and Stefano Succi have signed a contract with Hyproc, a branch of the Algerian oil and gas company Sonatrach, the 12th largest oil and gas company in the world. The project (called HYceo) includes the delivery of AMOS software for the Hyproc fleet of LNG carriers, consultancy and bespoke software development, and an extended personnel training program. The project has to be completed by end 2010. SpecTec Italy has linked with Hyproc's team in Algeria, Ernst&Young in Paris (Hyproc bid consultant), Oracle in Algeria and Veson in the USA on this contract in order to present a coordinated and workable bid.
