Metal Shark Launches Expedition Yacht Portfolio

U.S.-based shipbuilder Metal Shark has launched a 48-meter (158’) aluminum catamaran expedition yacht, the first in its newly introduced lineup of high-speed, long range catamaran expedition yachts.The new Metal Shark M48, named Magnet, is the first-ever private recreational yacht built by Metal Shark, a diversified builder of aluminum and steel vessels for military and commercial operators worldwide. In addition to the M48, the company’s Metal Shark Yachts portfolio includes the M30 (30 meters / 100’) and M70 (70 meters / 231’).

Inventing the iBoat

It all started back in the mid 1990’s when the seemingly new fangled internet became a tangible information portal for home computer users. As the prohibitive costs started to dissipate, the so called ‘e’-volution took off, thus making access to email, blogs, and personalized web pages more tangible and popular, even to the point of being expected. Today, the internet has nearly become lifeblood and people are all but helpless without some form of streaming connection to the information superhighway.

Meet the Wider 42 - Commercial

A planning boat that is light, fast and economical, yet has the usable deck area of a boat twice it’s size and the stability of a trimaran! Sounds too good to be true, well that was my initial reaction until I attended the Press launch in Italy of the “transformer” Wider 42. I call it transformer because that’s what it does. It can plane at speeds over 50 knots and when it stops, by pressing a button, in 12 secs it transforms the cockpit deck into an are twice its size. To ensure stability, two sponsons, one each side slide out from the hull to increase stability.

Image Marine Delivers Island Explorer

The Island Explorer will add an exciting new dimension to the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts group’s award winning property in the Maldives. Designed as a mini ‘floating hotel’, the vessel provides comfortable accommodation for up to 22 passengers, and in essence adds a brand new, all waterfront wing to the existing Four Seasons Resort Maldives Kuda Huraa. Dreama Klaiber: High HP for Blessey Marine

Built at Kody Marine just across the river from New Orleans, Blessey Marine's new flagship M/V Dreama Klaiber is the first inland river pushboat in North America to be powered by a pair of Cummins KTA50 M2 engines, delivering a total of 3,200 hp for continuous duty at 1,800 rpm. The 16-cylinder main engines, are equipped with Cummins' CENTRY electronic fuel control systems and drive through Reintjes WAF 772 marine gears with a reduction of 7.01:1 turning 86 x 76-in. propellers. At the Christening party and open house in New Orleans, visitors in town for the annual International Workboat Show marveled at the spacious engine room with the 16V main engines set amidst well laid out valves and piping for the various fuel, lube and water tanks.
