The name of the Brazilian company is UTC Engenharia, not UTC as initially reported. There are several global companies known as UTC, and only the Brazilian firm UTC Engenharia is implicated. Brazil's state-run oil company Petrobras on Monday said a growing corruption scandal may implicate its employee pension fund and has led to a freeze on payments to 23 contractors allegedly involved in the scheme. Petros, the 66 billion real ($24 billion) employee-pension fund of Petroleo Brasileiro SA, as Petrobras is formally known, was singled out by an internal investigation, Petrobras said in a statement.

Petrobas's FPSO P-63 has left the Quip/Honório Bicalho shipyard in the city of Rio Grande (RS) after the modules were integrated and the platform commissioned. With a capacity to process 140,000 barrels of oil/day and compress one million m3 of gas /day, the unit is going to the Papa-Terra field in the post-salt Campos Basin, operated by Petrobras (62.5%) in partnership with Chevron (37.5%). The P-63 was converted into an FPSO from the tanker BW Nisa, at the Cosco Shipyard in China. The unit arrived in Brazil in January this year for its final construction stages. Altogether 23 process plant modules were installed and interconnected.

Petrobras subsidiaries Tupi BV and Guará BV, together with consortium members BG Group, Petrogal Brasil, and Repsol Sinopec Brasil SA, have given the go-ahead for ten contracts totaling US$4.5 billion for the construction of the first six topside modules (processing plant, utilities and living quarters) for eight identical (“Replicant”) FPSOs (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading units). The modules are to be constructed in Brazil for pre-salt projects (a geophysical layer) in Santos Basin blocks BM-S-9 and BM-S-11. The contracts will be signed in the next few days.
