First phase of DNV GL Led Offshore Cable and Pipeline Project completed

The first phase of the DNV GL’s Joint Industry Project (JIP) which focuses on the development of a new design and certification standard for equipment for pipeline and cable offshore operations has been completed. "The JIP, focussing on the development of a new design and certification standard for equipment for pipeline and cable offshore operations, aims to reduce uncertainty, cost, increase efficiency and safety throughout the lifecycle of the equipment," said a press release. Pipeline and cable operations is a dynamic field of technology, with multiple players, leading to a level of complexity and lack of standardisation in the most common terms used within the oil and gas industry. Royal IHC Signs Contract with Shanghai Salvage

Royal IHC has announced they have signed a contract with Shanghai Salvage in China for the supply of an integrated 550t Reel lay system. This will be the first Reel lay system in the Chinese market and will be one of the largest and most sophisticated Reel lay systems worldwide. The pipelay system, which includes not only rigid pipe but also flexible pipe lay capability, will be installed on the new offshore construction vessel of Shanghai Salvage. IHC Engineering Business, a subsidiary of Royal IHC, will lead this prestigious project, with engineering concept design already well underway.

IHC Merwede Launches Sapura Pipelayer

IHC Merwede has successfully named and launched the pipelaying vessel Sapura Topázipo in a ceremony at the company’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. The naming of the fully integrated IHC Merwede vessel was carried out by Puan Sri Datin Seri Yazreen Yahya, spouse of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Shahril Shamsuddin, President and Group CEO of SapuraKencana. The 550t pipelaying vessel – ordered by Sapura Navegação Marítima, a joint venture between SapuraKencana and Seadrill – is the second in a series of five fully integrated offshore vessels…

Netherlands Shipyard to Build Ship for China

IHC Merwede says it has been successful in securing orders worth € 350 million for a wide range of dredging and offshore vessels and equipment, including a large trailing suction dredger for a Chinese customer. The company's Dredging division has confirmed new contracts for the delivery of a large custom-built trailing suction hopper dredger, with units that will be supplied by IHC Beaver Dredgers as well as a cutter suction dredger training simulator. The Offshore division has also announced orders for the construction of a 300-tonne pipelaying vessel…

IHC Merwede Wins Dredging and Offshore Orders

IHC Merwede has secured orders worth €350 million for a wide range of dredging and offshore vessels and equipment. The company’s Dredging division has confirmed new contracts for the delivery of a large custom-built trailing suction hopper dredger, 13 units that will be supplied by IHC Beaver Dredgers and a cutter suction dredger training simulator. The Offshore division has also announced orders for the construction of a 300-metric-ton pipelaying vessel, as well as a J-Lay pipelaying system and a tandem mooring system.

Petrofac Order Hi-end Offshore Construction Vessel

Service provider to the oil and gas industry, UK-based Petrofac, confirms placement orders to build its new proprietary design Petrofac JSD 6000 deepwater derrick lay vessel, which will be available for construction and installation activities in early 2017. Petrofac inform that the vessel is based on a unique design which integrates the J-Lay, S-Lay and derrick functions and will provide Petrofac with access to high-end turnkey opportunities in the high growth deepwater and SURF markets, and expand access to shallow water EPCI projects.

IHC Merwede named and launched the pipelaying vessel Sapura Diamante in a ceremony at the company’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. The naming of the innovative offshore vessel was carried out by Christina Lucia Duarte Pinho, the Executive Manager of Petrobras E&P Service. The 550t pipelaying vessel – ordered by Sapura Navegação Marítima, a joint venture between SapuraKencana and Seadrill – is the first in a series of five fully integrated offshore vessels, which will be completely designed, engineered and built by IHC Merwede.

IHC Merwede Constructs Three Pipelaying Vessels

IHC Merwede is building three 550t pipelaying vessels simultaneously at its Krimpen aan den IJssel yard in The Netherlands. The keel-laying ceremony for the first of two identical 550t pipelaying vessels for TL Offshore, a subsidiary of SapuraKencana, took place on Tuesday 15 January. This event was held one week ahead of the original schedule and was performed by Mr Darryl Peter Nelson, Project Director with TL Offshore. IHC Merwede began the steel-cutting work on the second TL Offshore pipelaying vessel directly after the ceremony.

IHC Merwede Secures Orders for Pipelaying Vessels

IHC Offshore & Marine, part of IHC Merwede, and SapuraCrest have signed two contracts for the design, engineering and construction of two new 550t pipelaying vessels. A third contract has been signed with OSX Construção Naval S.A. Brazil for the design and engineering of a 300t pipelaying vessel, as well as a large equipment package, supplied by IHC Engineering Business, among others. The orders have a total value of €450million. All three ships will install flexible pipelines in Brazilian waters…

IHC Merwede Wins €200m in Orders

HC Merwede won orders for vessels and equipment in its core markets of dredging and offshore to the value of €200m. The latest agreements confirmed by IHC Merwede include: a new pipelaying vessel for Subsea 7; an engineering and components package for the build of a trailing suction hopper dredger with BAE Systems (USA); an environmentally friendly deep-water dredger for Zheijang Dredging (China); and a 5,000-tonne capacity carousel-lay system for Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. IHC Merwede’s assignment with Subsea 7 is for the design, engineering and construction of a new advanced pipelaying vessel, which will have an overall length of 146m, a beam of 30m and a Class-2 dynamic positioning system.

$43 Million Contract Awarded Of New Backhoe Dredge

PANAMA CITY, Panama, April 27, 2011 - The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has awarded a $43 million contract to Dutch company IHC Engineering Business Ltd., a part of IHC Merwede Group, for the design and construction of a new backhoe dredge. The addition of this new dredge to the ACP’s existing fleet in December 2012 will increase the ACP’s ability to effectively dredge as part of the Expansion Program and future maintenance projects. IHC Engineering Business Ltd. will be responsible for the design, construction, tests and delivery of the hydraulic backhoe dredge.

IHC Engineering’s Largest Project to Date

On May 31, IHC Engineering Business (EB) will reach a major milestone when their largest project to date, a 2,000t capacity J-Lay system for the Saipem FDS2 (Field Development Ship), leaves its manufacturing location on Teesside. The lay system will then be en route to the Samsung Heavy Industries’ (SHI) Geoje shipyard in South Korea where EB’s engineers will work closely with Saipem and SHI to install and commission the system on the new build vessel. The new system is able to accommodate pipes from 4 to 36 inches and is rated at 2,000t hang-off capacity. By adjusting the angle of the tower (from 45 to 96 degrees) the system is capable of laying pipe in deep or shallow water.

Duke of Kent Visits IHC Engineering

HRH The Duke of Kent recently visited IHC Engineering Business (EB) touring the company’s Stocksfield (Northumberland) office and meeting members of the EB team including Chairman, Dr Tony Trapp and Managing Director, Toby Bailey. “It is a great honour to have received this visit, following the visit of the Duke of Gloucester less than two years ago, and so soon after we received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation in 2009,” said Toby Bailey. “His Royal Highness was particularly interested to hear about the pipelay systems that we are currently constructing at Teesside. The larger of the two comprises of 2500 tonnes of complex equipment and is bigger than the Tyne Bridge.
