Middle East Owner Clocks Up MAN Engine's 500th Sale

MAN Diesel & Turbo makes the 500th sale of its 48/60 medium-speed engine to Huta Marine of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia who ordered a pair for its new dredger. The milestone was reached with the order of two common-rail variants of the engine by Huta Marine of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as part of a diesel-electric system to power a self-propelled cutter suction dredger. Huta Marine is a specialist in marine infrastructure and its fleet ranks among the largest in the Middle East. The dredger will be built in the Netherlands by a shipyard belonging to the IHC Merwede Group.

IHC Merwede Opens New U.S. Facility

IHC Merwede opened a new yard facility in Broussard, La. The yard at 206 Cummings Road will operate under the name of Hydro-Ram, Inc. With this expansion IHC Merwede now has a regional office in North America. Hydro-Ram, Inc., consisting of IHC Hydrohammer, IHC Handling Systems and IHC Fundex Equipment - all business units within the IHC Merwede group - will be the main distributor covering the North American piling markets for the oil and gas, offshore wind, construction and coastal and civil industries. The new site’s facilities include storage for a large rental fleet, maintenance operation and the main strategic spare parts hub for all of IHC Merwede’s pile installation equipment.

IHC Offshore Systems, part of IHC Merwede, is proud to announce it has been awarded a rental contract for the Noise Mitigation System NMS-6900. Dutch offshore contractor Seaway Heavy Lifting will operate the NMS-6900 during the installation of 30 monopile foundations for the Riffgat offshore wind farm off the north-west coast of Germany. $43 Million Contract Awarded Of New Backhoe Dredge

PANAMA CITY, Panama, April 27, 2011 - The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has awarded a $43 million contract to Dutch company IHC Engineering Business Ltd., a part of IHC Merwede Group, for the design and construction of a new backhoe dredge. The addition of this new dredge to the ACP’s existing fleet in December 2012 will increase the ACP’s ability to effectively dredge as part of the Expansion Program and future maintenance projects. IHC Engineering Business Ltd. will be responsible for the design, construction, tests and delivery of the hydraulic backhoe dredge.

Duke of Kent Visits IHC Engineering

HRH The Duke of Kent recently visited IHC Engineering Business (EB) touring the company’s Stocksfield (Northumberland) office and meeting members of the EB team including Chairman, Dr Tony Trapp and Managing Director, Toby Bailey. “It is a great honour to have received this visit, following the visit of the Duke of Gloucester less than two years ago, and so soon after we received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation in 2009,” said Toby Bailey. “His Royal Highness was particularly interested to hear about the pipelay systems that we are currently constructing at Teesside. The larger of the two comprises of 2500 tonnes of complex equipment and is bigger than the Tyne Bridge.

New Cummins Powered Dredge

A cutter dredge built in the Netherlands by the IHC Merwede Group, departed her homeport for the long transport to Malaysia where she now works. In Malaysia the dredge, Inai Delima, joined the extensive fleet of Inai Kiara Sdn Bhd. The custom-built 4,697 kW (6,299 hp) stationary, cutter dredger is fitted with two Cummins QSK60-M dredging pump engines. It also has a single Cummins KTA50 (D)M engine for hydraulics while electrical needs are met by generators powered by a Cummins 6CTA and a larger genset powered by a Cummins QSM11.
