Dutch FPSO specialist SBM Offshore has won contracts to perform Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) for an FPSO for Exxon's Yellowtail development offshore Guyana. This will be SBM Offshore's largest-ever FPSO.The FEED contract for what will be Guyana's fourth FPSO, and fourth delivered by SBM Offshore, triggers the initial release of funds by ExxonMobil to begin FEED activities and secure a Fast4Ward hull. The Fast4Ward program includes a new build, multi-Purpose Floater hull combined with several standardized topsides modules.

Around 30 production floater contracts are now queued up for award over the next 18 months, assuming no major market disruption occurs and the supply chain can absorb the orders within this time frame. U.S. oil major ExxonMobil has made another oil discovery at the prolific Stabroek offshore block in Guyana. This adds to around nine billion barrels of oil equivalent discovered over the past few years and paves way for future development.The discovery was made at Whiptail-1 well at the 6.6 million acres (26,800 square kilometers) offshore block. The Navy will christen the newest guided-missile destroyer, the future USS Delbert D. Black (DDG 119), Saturday, Nov. 4, during a 10 a.m. CST ceremony at Huntington Ingalls Industries Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi. The future USS Delbert D. Black is the first ship to bear the name of a master chief petty officer of the Navy (MCPON) and is named for the first person to hold that office. Black began his 30-year Navy career in the spring of 1941. After completing recruit training, he reported to his first assignment, USS Maryland (BB 46) in Pearl Harbor, where he witnessed the Japanese attack that drew the United States into World War II. Over the next 26 years, he rose through the ranks to Gunner's Mate Master Chief before his selection in 1967 to serve as the first MCPON.

Cobham SATCOM’s SAILOR and Sea Tel antennas have been used by maritime VSAT service provider Marlink to test the upper limits of throughput on the new Intelsat 33e (IS-33e) satellite. The testing at Marlink’s Eik teleport included Cobham SATCOM’s Sea Tel 9711 IMA, Sea Tel 6012 VSAT and SAILOR 900 VSAT High Power systems, all of which demonstrated high throughput capabilities. IS-33e is the third of seven new High Throughput Satellites (HTS) that power Intelsat’s next generation EpicNG network, an exciting new platform for very high-speed maritime broadband.
