Indian Register of Shipping Opens Coimbatore Office

Classification society the Indian Register of Shipping said it has opened a new office in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. GAC has handled the first tanker to berth at the newly constructed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal inside Kamarajar Port, Ennore in Chennai, India. Chakraborty Appointed Branch Manager, GAC Bangalore

Elektrans, CST & Marine Service to establish Chemtrans

Elektrans Group has joined hands with German tank operator Chemikalien Seetransport (CST) and the consultancy and engineering company Marine Service GmbH to establish a joint venture -- Chemtrans India Pvt Ltd. "Elektran Group and a company affiliated to the reputed German tanker operator Chemikalien Seetransport GmbH (CST) and the consultancy and engineering company Marine Service GmbH are pleased to announce that they have concluded a joint venture agreement to set up 'Chemtrans India Private Limited," Elektrans group said in a statement. An agreement setting gears in motion was signed by Daniel Chopra (Executive Chairman, Elektrans Group) and Christian Krämer (Managing Director, CST) in New Delhi, India.

Hanjin's First Service Call at Krishnapatnam Port

Hanjin Shipping India Pvt Ltd, the South Korean shipping conglomerate, made its maiden call at KPCT on 1st February, 2016. Vessel MV Hanjin Florida had exchanged 553 TEU out of which 109 TEU are imports and 444 TEU are exports. “Safe Container – Steering Changes” – SOLAS Amendment

With the SOLAS Convention now requiring container weight verification from 1st July 2016 onwards following the amendment approved by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) last November, the Company of Master Mariners of India (CMMI) jointly with the Indian Maritime Administration conducted a Conference on “Safe Containers Steering Changes” on 10th December at The Lalit, Mumbai. The objective of the conference being to bring together various stakeholders in the container supply chain and provide an opportunity for an in-depth understanding of the different issues and their implications. Deepak Shetty, the Director General of Shipping and Additional Secretary, Government of India, stated that the Indian Maritime Administration was totally prepared to implement the new requirement.

RoRo Operations Start at APM Terminals Pipavav

APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd) and NYK Auto Logistics (India) today announced the commencement of RORO operations at Pipavav Port. Ford Motors India Pvt Ltd dispatched the first lot of its new Ford FIGO built in its Sanand plant in Gujarat for exports. The first RoRo vessel, m.v.Grand Dahlia, berthed at Pipavav on August 26 and loaded 1,300 vehicles. Officials from APM Terminals, NYK Auto Logistics and Ford Motors welcomed the vessel and marked the inauguration of RoRo operations with a simple ceremony held on board. The vessel departed this morning after successful completion of operations. APM Terminals Pipavav currently has three business verticals under its service portfolio which include container, bulk and liquid cargo.

Rolls-Royce to Sell Michell Bearing Business

Rolls-Royce has today confirmed its intention to sell its Michell Bearings business to British Engines Limited for a cash consideration of £12.6m. Subject to licence consents, the sale will be completed in the autumn. Michell Bearings has been part of the Rolls-Royce Marine business for the past 15 years and is a premium designer and manufacturer of hydrodynamic bearings for a wide range of marine and industrial applications. Michell Bearings consists of a business based in the UK, located in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and a 51% shareholding in Michell Bearings (India) Pvt Ltd, a non-wholly owned subsidiary company based in Bangalore. Newest Sub-chapter of WISTA Inaugurated in Kochi

The newst sub–chapter of Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association – was inaugurated in Kochi on the 29th of August 2014, making it the fifth chapter in the country. The sub-chapter was launched as a part of the 2nd Hotel, and was attended by eminent personalities from the Indian maritime industry. Mr Umesh Grover, CEO of Indian National Ship owner’s Association (INSA), and Mr Prakash Iyer, President of Cochin Steamer Agents Association (CSAA) inaugurated the launch as esteemed representatives of the industry and supporters of WISTA. The launch of the sub-chapter was marked by the unveiling and handing over of the WISTA flag to the dignitaries by the WISTA India Treasurer and Director of GAC Shipping (India) Pvt Ltd, Ms Miriam Mathews.

Imtech Marine Opens Office in New Delhi

Imtech Marine opened a new office in New Delhi, giving it a foothold in India’s fast growing maritime industry and will further increase its reach in South-East Asia. Imtech Marine India Pvt Ltd. is an approved supplier for the Indian Navy regarding HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Airconditioning) and Fire Fighting systems, but it presently also works on various projects of the Indian Navy for the supply of HVAC/NBC equipment, Fire Fighting systems and Chilled Water Plants. Aveva Opens New Office in India

Business expansion will provide a sales, technical support and training center for the Indian market. Aveva opened a new office in Mumbai. Rickmers Tianjin Named in Mumbai

As part of its upgrading program for its Europe India service, Rickmers-Linie, has added the 17,000dwt newbuilding Rickmers Tianjin to the schedule. The base ports served are Hamburg, Antwerp, Genoa, Mumbai and Chennai but the service is capable of serving a wide variety of additional ports on inducement. Rickmers Tianjin joins her sistership Rickmers Yokohama and the charter ships Linde, Martin and Baltic Winter on the Indian service. On her maiden voyage from Europe, Rickmers Tianjin was named in the Port of Mumbai on 9 January.

GAC India Opens Pipavav Office

GAC India has opened a new office in Pipavav to cater to the needs of the growing number of vessels calling at the port and principals using it as a base for operations in the Mumbai High oil field, off the country’s west coast.
