Russia's Tanker Fleet Too Small to Bypass Oil Price Cap

Russia's oil tanker fleet is too small to fully circumvent a plan by the European Union, G7 countries and Australia to enforce a price cap on its maritime crude exports starting on Dec. 5, analysts and market watchers say.The amount Russia would be unable to export is expected to increase when EU sanctions on Russian refined product shipments take effect on Feb. 5.In all the shortfall could mean Russia halts exports of around 1 million barrels per day (bpd), compared with current flows to the world market of around 3.5 million bpd.

Tanker Held Off Australia for COVID-19 Testing

An oil tanker is being held off the coast of Australia pending the results of crew COVID-19 tests.The Hong Kong-flagged Haruna Express was denied permission to enter Sydney's Port Botany and ordered to remain offshore following reports stating a number of crew members on board had been displaying coronavirus symptoms. The vessel will not be allowed entry into the New South Wales port until negative results are confirmed for all crew members, local authorities said.On Thursday, NSW Police Force’s Marine Area Command deployed Police Launch WP25 to deliver COVID-19 test kits to the 28,000-tonne tanker, which was situated 3 nautical miles off the coast of Sydney and awaiting clearance to dock.The ship…

Russian-Indian Indra Drills On

India and Russia has began their bilateral naval exercise, Indra Navy, which is aimed at increasing interoperability between the two Navies and developing common understanding of procedures for maritime security operations. Indra Navy is a bilateral maritime exercise between the Indian and Russian navies and epitomises the strategic relationship between the two countries. Russian and Indian warships have left the naval base in the city of Visakhapatnam in India’s south-eastern state of Andhra Pradesh, starting the second - active - phase of the 8th joint naval exercise Indra that ends on December 12. The primary aim of the 8th edition of 'Indra Navy' exercise series is to increase interoperability between the two Navies and develop common unders.

Piracy Threat Still a Real Concern Finds SHADE Conference

Piracy, Private Security Companies, & Best Maritime Practice discussed at 27th Shared Awareness and Deconfliction (SHADE') conference. Military officers, government officials and trade representatives attended the SHADE conference, hosted by the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF). The quarterly conference was chaired by CMF in conjunction with NATO and the European Union Naval Forces (EUNAVFOR), and provides a forum for states, navies and industry members involved in counter-piracy operations in the region to share information and ideas. It also allows everyone taking part in the crackdown on piracy to coordinate their efforts, and ensure everybody is working towards shared goals.

Russian Shipbuilders Ask for $100M More for Indian Frigates
