ABS Names Lennon VP for Offshore Wind

Imtech Bankrupt, Parts Sold to Investors

Dutch engineering services company Royal Imtech has been declared bankrupt and its Marine and Nordic divisions are being sold to private investors, the company and its administrators said on Thursday. Imtech, which employs 22,000 people in 35 countries and has annual sales of roughly 4 billion euros ($4.5 billion), filed for protection from creditors on Tuesday after its German unit filed for insolvency. The break-up of Imtech, once a darling of the Amsterdam stock exchange, capped more than two years of financial turmoil triggered by accounting fraud at its Polish and German units. No figures were given, but Imtech said the sale of the two units would secure 7,300 jobs.

Leighton Holdings Announces Appointment Of MDs

Leighton Holdings announced the appointment of Four Managing Directors. Construction will be led by David Jurd, who is currently the Executive General Manager of Leighton Contractors’ Infrastructure Division. Mining will be led by Bruce Munro, who is currently Managing Director of Thiess. PPPs will be led by Angel Muriel, who is currently Leighton Holdings’ Chief Development Officer. Engineering will be led by Craig Laslett, who is currently Managing Director of Leighton Contractors. Ian Edwards will continue to lead Leighton Asia, India and Offshore; Glenn Palin will continue to lead John Holland; and Mark Gray will continue to lead Leighton Properties. Leighton also announced the branding of the construction and mining businesses.

TWIC’s Last Hurdle is Scaled

Card reader technology is tested, proven and in use, nationwide. While the maritime industry awaits the Fed’s edict on MTSA, the solution already exists. The Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA) requires that individuals needing unescorted access to MTSA-regulated Facilities and Vessels must first obtain a TWIC. To obtain a TWIC Card, an individual must meet certain eligibility requirements and pass a security threat assessment conducted by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Individuals are then issued a tamper-resistant credential containing the cardholders biometric fingerprint data, which provides a conclusive link between the card and the individual cardholder. To date, more than 2 million of these credentials have been issued.

Atsec Fixed Reader Passes TWIC Trials

Atsec announced the successful test of Schneider Electric’s PC3-TBR reader against the specifications set forth by the TWIC Reader Evaluation Program. Before vendors can sell their products to be used in the TWIC program, they have to undergo independent testing. As an accredited laboratory under the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP), atsec is qualified to test TWIC readers for conformance with the program requirements. According to Schneider Electric’s executive VP Smart Infrastructure Division Ignacio Gonzalez, "As one of the first vendors to undergo testing for a TWIC reader, Schneider Electric is a pioneer of the new program. atsec has been an excellent partner in the process and their test engineers are highly competent.

Keppel Details FY 2011 Results

The Directors of Keppel Corporation Limited advise the following unaudited results of the Group for the full year ended 31 December 2011. The FY 2011 Report Card and the Address by Mr Choo Chiau Beng, Chief Executive Officer, are below. I am pleased to announce that 2011 was yet another record year for Keppel Corporation. Our net profit grew by 14% to a new high of nearly $1.5 billion. This is the fifth year running that our net profit has surpassed the $1 billion mark. Also for the fifth consecutive year, our Return on Equity has remained above 20%. Economic Value Added has also increased to $1,024 million for the year. With these strong results, the Board of Directors will be recommending a total distribution to shareholders of 43 cents per share for the whole year.

Keppel Q1 Results

1. Net profit improved 13% to S$322 million compared to 1Q09. 2. Earnings per share of 20.2 cents, up 13% from 1Q09’s 17.9 cents. 3. Annualised ROE remained above 20%. 4. Economic Value Added increased from S$211 million to S$240 million. 5. Cash outflow of S$501 million. 6. Net cash decreased from 0.14x to 0.07x. The first quarter of this year saw the global recovery gaining momentum. The latest figures indicate that the recovery in the US is gradually broadening to embrace the manufacturing and services sectors, with signs of a turnaround in the labour market. Across in Europe, while recovery seems to be tentative, there appears to be improved business confidence. Economic growth in Asia has certainly remained firm. China grew by 11.9% in the first quarter of the year.

ADT to Install $4.75M Security System at Port of Oakland

The Port of Oakland announced today the award of a $4.75 million maritime security enhancement contract to Florida-based ADT Security Services, Inc., a unit of Tyco Fire & Security. Under the contract, ADT will install an integrated security system using advanced technology to assist the Port of Oakland, the nation's fourth busiest container port, in its overall security assessment and improvement program. The contract is being funded through a 2002 seaport security grant award from the federal Transportation Security Administration. The contract calls for a comprehensive system design: automated access control, video surveillance, perimeter intrusion detection, as well as an integrated communications infrastructure.
