Tognum's Investment In the Future Kicks In

150 young people are embarking on training programs or courses of dual study at Tognum, and for the first time, these include trainees from the new Tognum location in Bergen, Norway. “Our new trainees represent an investment in the future of our company and the places we have on offer provide very attractive opportunities for those just starting out on their careers,” said Ingo Metzer, head of HR at Tognum. A total of 108 young people are starting courses at Tognum HQ in Friedrichshafen with 75 young men and 33 young women undertaking training in eleven vocational areas.

Engineering Apprentices Train Worldwide with Tognum

148 young people start their apprenticeships in Germany & at other locations, including America for the first time. Tognum has taken the German version of cooperative education to the U.S. for the first time and is applying it at its subsidiary, Tognum America. ”We develop, produce and maintain state-of-the-art engines and energy systems, and to do this, we need qualified staff. With this investment in the future, the company is making an important contribution to counteract the lack of specialists,” explained Ingo Metzer, Head of HR at Tognum.

Tognum Showcase Career Opportunites

The ‘Tognum Take-off’ open day was held in Plant 1, Maybachplatz 1 in Friedrichshafen where school pupils and their parents, as well as whole classes and their teachers, came to find out more about careers with MTU. Tours of the apprentices’ workshops in Plant 1 in Friedrichshafen gave a foretaste of ten different commercial and industrial vocations. “We want to give school graduates of all ages and from all school types the opportunity to discover the fascination of a scientific career and to experience technology and electronics at first hand,” explained Ingo Metzer, head of Human Resources at Tognum.
