Sea Machines Receives $12 Million in Funding
Boston-based Sea Machines, a developer of autonomous control systems and advanced perception technology for maritime vessels, announced it has secured $12 million from a group of capital investors.The funding round, led by cleantech venture capital specialist Emerald Technology Ventures, was joined by Nabtesco Technology Ventures (NTV), Chevron Technology Ventures, Ingram Industries, RKKVC, Level 2 Ventures and IMC Ventures. This adds to a financing in 2023 led by the Geekdom Fund.The company said the investments will help it to "hone its technological edge and grow its market presence".

Zero emission is a nice idea, but who’s going to pay for it? The U.S. EPA is readying big money for zero emission ports.The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is working on two high-profile port initiatives that it hopes will move the needle in a big way towards U.S. ports’ zero emissions (ZE) operations and clean air goals.The first initiative started last May when EPA published a request for information and comments that would help the Agency develop Guidance it could use to evaluate funding requests for projects for zero-emission vehicles, port equipment and related infrastructure.
Ingram Christens New Towboat Steve Alley
Ingram Marine Group this week held a christening ceremony in New Orleans for Steve Alley, the fifth new towboat in the series of 10 ordered by the Nashville-based operator.The four-decked, welded-steel, USCG Subchapter M-compliant towboat was designed by Ingram Marine Group, Louisiana shipbuilder Main Iron Works, and naval architect Ashraf Degedy, PE.The 78-foot-long, 32-foot-wide newbuild is outfitted with twin Caterpillar Marine tier 3 diesel engines and Reintjes gearboxes, John Deere generators, and 76-inch Michigan special propellers.

Ingram CEO O’Loughlin to Retire; Roberts to Take the Helm
Nashville-based Ingram Marine Group, one of the largest barging companies in the U.S., announced Monday that David O’Loughlin will retire from his role as CEO. He will be succeeded by John Roberts, the company’s current chief operating officer, who will take the helm as the new president and CEO on February 1. Ingram Completes Acquisition of U.S. United Barge Line
Ingram Barge Company today completed its acquisition of U.S. United Barge Line, LLC (“UBL”), a barge transportation company headquartered in Tampa, Florida. The proposed transaction was announced on April 19 and, following the receipt of necessary government approval and satisfaction of other closing conditions, Ingram officials said today they had finalized the sale and that the process of integrating the UBL business will begin immediately. Approximately 300 UBL associates will join Ingram, and 17 towboats and some 650 barges will be added to the Ingram fleet. Orrin H. Ingram to sell its Materials Unit
Ingram Industries Inc. of Nashville, Tennessee, and Pine Bluff Sand and Gravel Co. of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, announced today they have entered into an agreement for Ingram to sell its Ingram Materials LLC subsidiary to Pine Bluff. Ingram Materials is one of the nation’s premier producers of fine aggregate used by the construction industry for concrete, asphalt and masonry projects in Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky and Northern Alabama. Ingram Materials operates three sand dredges on the Ohio River in Paducah, Kentucky, and has distribution facilities in Nashville, Clarksville and New Johnsonville, Tennessee; Paducah, Kentucky; and Decatur and Florence, Alabama. The Ingram Materials business was first established in 1927 by other owners who called it the Ohio River Sand Company.
Moody’s Reviews Rating of Midland Enterprises
Moody's Investors Service placed the debt rating of Midland Enterprises debt under review for potential downgrade following the announcement by its parent company, KeySpan Corporation, of KeySpan's intent to sell Midland to Ingram Industries. close during the second quarter of 2002. Moody's review will focus on the treatment of Midland debt securities within Ingram's capital structure, the market position of Midland when combined with Ingram's own inland barge operations, and the prospects for improving free cash flow in the slow growth barge business. Ingram is a privately held company and is presently unrated by Moody's. Moody's will also assess whether sufficient information will be available to monitor the rating of Midland securities once the transaction is closed.
