ALE, Murphy Join for Offshore Services

UK-based ALE Heavylift and compatriot engineering and construction company J Murphy & Sons announced a new collective partnership to offer linear winch hire, pipe pulling and installation engineering services worldwide.As part of the agreement, ALE will also have access to equipment designed by Murphy subsidiary Land & Marine. Based in the UK, Land & Marine’s product portfolio includes pipe handling equipment such as rollers and rail bogies, as well as 800-metric-ton capacity liner winches.Land & Marine’s design is patented and allows socket passing under load as well as utilizing advanced hydraulic controls for accurate monitoring.

DNV GL bags COSCO's HVDC Converter Platform Deal

DNV GL has been awarded a contract by COSCO Shipping Company Limited (COSCO SHIPPING) of China for the installation engineering services for the BorWin gamma high voltage direct current (HVDC) converter platform. The Dutch-German transmission system operator TenneT is developing the offshore AC/DC converter platform BorWin gamma as part of the grid connection project BorWin3. The project will provide an essential renewable offshore resource to meet increasing energy demands in Germany, as part of the German Energiewende (Energy Transition) programme. A consortium of Siemens and Petrofac has been contracted by TenneT to design, build and install BorWin gamma.

Petrobras Awards $1B Vessel Contract

The joint venture formed by Technip (50%) and Odebrecht Oil & Gas (OOG, 50%) received a letter of award from Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) for the charter and operation, during a fixed period of five years, of two identical flexible pipeline installation vessels for a value of approximately $1b. with a mutual option to extend for a further five years. Characterized by their high pipelay tension capacity of 550 tons, the twin vessels will be employed principally to install umbilical and flexible flowlines and risers to connect subsea wells to floating production units in waters up to over 2,500m deep offshore Brazil, including in the pre-salt area. The provision of installation engineering services is included in a JV´s scope.
