Cadeler Signs Wind Turbine Installation Contract Worth Up to $150M

Fincantieri Lands $250M Order from Prysmian for New Cable-Laying Vessel

Vard, a Norwegian subsidiary of the Fincantieri Group, has signed a contract for the design and construction of a cable-laying vessel for Prysmian Group valued at $250 million.This is the third cable-laying vessel Vard is building for Prysmian Group after vessels Monna Lisa, currently under construction, and Leonardo da Vinci, which was delivered in 2021.According to the companies, the new unit will consolidate the widest fleet in the industry.The cable-laying vessel will be an evolution of the Monna Lisa class.

Abu Dhabi: OFCO, Mammoet Pen Collaboration Agreement

Sri Lanka, Korea Pact on BWMS

Sri Lanka's leading ship repair, ship building, heavy engineering and offshore engineering facility Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC)  inked an agreement with PANASIA, Korea as a partner for Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) and Scrubber installation.This collaboration with PANASIA will allow Colombo Dockyard to offer this service of installation of BWMS and Scrubbers to its clientele, said a press release from the ship building company is based in Colombo.Colombo Dockyard has already installed eight Numbers PANASIA Ballast Water Management Systems on its new construction vessels; this is an added positive factor for ship owners to look at Colombo Dockyard confidently for repair and installation solutions of BWMS.

Steel Cut for OHT Heavy Lift

The first steel of the Norway based shipowner Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT)'s semisubmersible heavy lift crane vessel was cut  last week at the CMHI yard in China.The Norwegian ship designer Ulstein designed vessel is developed for operations in the offshore renewables and installation market. Harren & Partner to Acquire SAL Heavy Lift

Bremen-based shipping company Harren & Partner and "K" Line, Tokyo, have reached an agreement for Harren & Partner to acquire German carrier SAL Heavy Lift today (27 July 2017). SAL will become the new dominant player in the super heavy lift segment (900 t to 2,000 t crane capacity). SAL Heavy Lift, founded in 1980 in the "Altes Land" area near Hamburg, is one of the world's leading carriers specialised in the sea transport of heavy lift and project cargo. Its offshore subsidiary, SAL Offshore, develops and supplies installation solutions for the oil & gas and renewables sectors. Part of the "K" Line Group since 2011, SAL has access to a highly flexible fleet of 15 heavy lift vessels and a worldwide network with offices and agencies in 25 countries.

New Subsea Report on Tech, Safety and Trends

DNV GL has issued the report ‘Subsea – Technology Developments, Incidents and Future Trends’ on behalf of the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority. “The ongoing increase in technology enhancement and the number of worldwide subsea field developments will demand greater focus on a number of issues. The report aims to raise awareness and share knowledge within safety, industry cooperation, degradation mechanisms, failure modes, monitoring, integrity management and incident-related information,” said Bjørn Søgård, DNV GL’s segment director for subsea technology. The oil and gas industry’s drive to develop more cost-efficient ways to produce, process and transport oil and gas offshore has in the past few years led to tremendous technology developments on subsea technology.

Jack-Up Barge Debuts New Offshore Installation Method

Jack-Up Barge, the offshore self-elevating platform supplier, has pioneered a new cost-effective installation method that the company said will revolutionize offshore wind turbine construction. The Netherlands-based based company, a supplier to the offshore energy markets, successfully completed seatrials at the beginning of March, on a new, first-of-its-kind, portable DP2 system. The new system, integrated to one of Jack-Up Barge’s platforms, enables the vessel to operate between work sites offshore without recourse to a tug vessel.

Horton Shallow Water Development's (SWD) CX-15 buoyant tower has been set as planned for BPZ Energy off the coast of Peru. The Buoyant Tower concept draws on the proven technology of the cellspar and the design provides multiple benefits for fields where other concepts would be problematic requiring high capital costs and expensive crane barges for installation. The design allows for oil storage if needed, can eliminate separate shallow water drilling units and provides a high level of flexibility for the operator.

Norwegians Target Cost-Effective Wind

Norwegian-led consortium targets the development of cost-effective pre-installed seabed foundations for offshore wind. NorWind Installer AS, together with partners OWEC Tower AS, Vestavind Offshore AS, MENCK GmbH, BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH, Strathclyde University, Glasgow and the Centre for Integrated Petroleum Research (CIPR) at UNI Research, have been awarded support from the Norwegian Research Council for an innovation project for renewable energy. “The project will develop new and improved solutions for the location, design and installation of pre-installed seabed foundations for offshore wind turbines”, says Ivan Østvik at NorWind Installer who has been the R&D project developer.

Global, Flour Agreement, Middle East

Global Industries, Ltd.
