Ice Kings: Model Testing Ship-ice Interactions

Model testing ship-ice interactions in the St. In a cavernous room in the heart of a research center in St. John’s, Newfoundland at 8 am, the air temperature is -20 C while the water temperature is hovering at zero. National Research Council of Canada (NRC) staff are preparing the Ice Tank to test the integrity of a newly designed ship’s hull and propulsion system by subjecting a model to a battery of maneuvers and encounters with ice. One of the largest in the world, the Ice Tank is 90m long, 12m wide, and 3m deep.

Keppel Secures $125 mln Repeat Contracts

Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M)'s local and overseas subsidiaries continue to win strong support from repeat customers by securing four contracts worth a total of about S$125 million. In Singapore, Keppel O&M's wholly-owned subsidiary Keppel Shipyard Ltd (Keppel Shipyard) secured two conversion contracts - the first is for a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Floating Storage Unit (FSU) vessel awarded by Armada Floating Gas Storage Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bumi Armada Berhad (Bumi Armada); the second is for a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel awarded by Yinson Production (West Africa) Pte Ltd (Yinson), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yinson Holdings Berhad. Work on the LNG FSU conversion for Bumi Armada is scheduled to be completed in 3Q 2016.

Keppel Wins $88.5M in Floating Production Contracts

Shell Awards Maintenance Contract to BMT

Shell has selected BMT Asia Sdn Bhd (BMT) to provide three-year maintenance services for a production storage facility offshore Malaysia. Sister company, BMT Scientific Marine Services previously installed Marine Instrumentation Systems (MIS) and Marine Advisory Systems (MAS) on the platform. This contract allows the organization to provide servicing and maintenance on MIS/MAS instrumentation exposed to the offshore marine environment, in order to ensure that components remain functional and provide accurate data.

North Sea Met Masts Contract for RES Offshore

RES Offshore has signed an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services contract with Forewind for two met masts in the Dogger Bank Round 3 zone. These met masts are the furthest offshore of any in the UK and RES will be delivering scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for the structures and instrumentation systems including all work on the masts together with project management and procurement of vessels and subcontractors. The Dogger Bank Zone is in the North Sea, located between 125 and 290 kilometres off the east coast of Yorkshire.
