Curtiss-Wright Wins Contract

Curtiss-Wright Corporation won a follow-on contract from Northrop Grumman Corporation for the supply of Aircraft Ship Integrated Secure and Traverse (ASIST) systems and Lightweight Track equipment. These systems will be installed on-board the new Deepwater National Security Cutter (NSC) class platform for the U.S. Coast Guard. Northrop Grumman Corporation is building the ship at their Pascagoula, Miss. facility, under contract from Integrated Coast Guard Systems LLP (ICGS), a joint venture of Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin. The NSC will be a 418 ft. (127 m) vessel with a 4,300-ton displacement at full load when delivered and will be powered by a twin screw combined diesel and gas turbine power propulsion plant designed to travel at maximum speed of 29 knots.

USCG Cutter to be Named After Bertholf

The U.S. Coast Guard recently announced that the first Deepwater National Security Cutter (NSC), being built at Northrop Grumman's Pascagoula, Miss. facility, will be named Bertholf in honor of the organization's first Commandant, Ellsworth Price Bertholf (1866-1921), according to a recent PrimeZone report. Northrop Grumman Corporation's Ship Systems sector is building the ship under contract from Integrated Coast Guard Systems LLP, a joint venture of Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin Corporation. The ship currently stands at 31 percent complete. The NSC will be a 418 ft. (127 m) ship with a 4,300-ton displacement at full load. Powered by a twin-screw combined diesel-and-gas turbine-power propulsion plant, the NSC is designed to travel at 28 knots max speed.
