Santos Selects Altera for Dorado FPSO FEED

Australian oil and gas company Santos has awarded the FEED contract for the FPSO for the Dorado project offshore W. Australia to Altera Infrastructure.Located in the Bedout Sub-basin, Dorado is an oil and gas project which is planned to be developed in two phases. The initial development involves the production of oil and condensate through a wellhead platform (WHP) and FPSO. Cosco Shipping Ports Net Profit Soars by 70.1% for H1 2018

BP, Reliance Move Ahead in Deep Water

BP and Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) today announced the sanctioning of the ‘Satellite cluster’ project in Block KG D6. The companies are moving forward to develop the Block’s discovered deep-water gas fields in an integrated series of projects, bringing new gas production for India. The ‘Satellite cluster’ is the second of three projects in the Block KG D6 integrated development. The first of the projects, development of the ‘R-Series’ deep-water gas fields, was sanctioned in June 2017. Together the three projects will develop a total of about 3 trillion cubic feet of discovered gas resources with a total investment of c. INR 40,000 crore (US$6 billion). Eco Marine Power to Use Artificial Intelligence

To further enhance its research capabilities Eco Marine Power announced today that it will begin using the Neural Network Console provided by Sony Network Communications Inc., as part of a strategy to incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into various ongoing ship related technology projects including the further development of the patented Aquarius MRE (Marine Renewable Energy) and EnergySail. The Neural Network Console is an integrated development environment using deep learning for AI creation and has been used in deep learning applied technology development within Sony since 2015. Various functions are included such as recognition technology and a full-fledged GUI (graphical user interface) and these allow for deep learning programs to be developed.

Vopak Expands Pengerang Terminal

Royal Vopak and its joint venture partners intend to expand their independent storage terminal, Pengerang Independent Terminals Sdn Bhd (PITSB) in Pengerang, Johor in southern Malaysia. PITSB will be expanded with 430,000 cbm to a total capacity of 1.7 million cubic meters.The expansion which is subject to final formalities, is expected to be commissioned progressively from Q1 2019. PITSB provides storage, blending and distribution services for crude oil and clean petroleum products. The expansion relates to the storage of clean petroleum products. In total, 24 new tanks will be built ranging from 10.000 cbm to 25.000 cbm. In addition to the extra capacity, one extra berth will be taken into operation, bringing the total number of operating berths to six.

New Port in Stockholm Inaugurated

Ports of Stockholm has expanded Stockholm by 85000 square metres, and built a new pier and passenger terminal. Värtahamnen has been under reconstruction since 2013. The rebuilding is part of the development of a completely new city district in Stockholm, the Stockholm Royal Seaport. Ports of Stockholm has built a new pier and passenger terminal, which the ferry operations at Värtahamnen have now moved to. The concentration of port operations to the pier has freed-up 85 000 square meters of land for urban development, making space for 12 000 new homes and 35 000 workplaces. Amid Commodity Crisis, LPG Emerges as Accidental Bright-spot

Liquefied Petroleum Gas, long a niche product used by the poor to cook and the rich to barbecue, has become a rare bright spot amid a broad commodities rout, riding on the wave of strong economic growth in India and parts of Southeast Asia. LPG is best known to consumers as propane or butane used in heating appliances and vehicles. But it is also used in the petrochemicals industry and the electricity sector, acting as a replacement for diesel in generators and power stations. While tumbling prices for oil, gas, coal and industrial metals have seen energy companies and miners slash capital expenditure, investment is flowing into the LPG sector to feed burgeoning demand from the world's poorer nations.

Murmansk Region Head for Zoning Arctic Territories

Murmansk Governor Marina Kovtun, at the first meeting of the State Commission for the development of the Arctic has proposed a change to the system of energy pricing for the Murmansk region and zoning of marine areas. The authorities of the Murmansk region linked the successful development of Russian oil and gas projects in the Arctic with the timely development of the Murmansk transport hub and the construction of the railway on the western shore of the Kola Bay, Interfax reported. "The project is the integrated development of the Murmansk Transport Hub, which is implemented in our region, one hundred percent is the Arctic, because it allows in the future to extend the infrastructural capacity of the Murmansk port," - said the governor.

BG Group Produces First Oil from Knarr Field

BG Group announced the Petrojarl Knarr floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel had started production from the Knarr oil field in the North Sea, offshore Norway. The FPSO has been leased from Teekay Corporation and is moored approximately 120 kilometers off the Norwegian coast. It has a production capacity of 63,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day and a storage capacity of 800,000 barrels. The Knarr field, discovered in 2008, has estimated gross recoverable reserves of around 80 million barrels of oil equivalent with a production life of at least ten years.

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Aims High

India’s largest container port, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT), said it aims to grow as one of the top 10 global container ports in the next five years. After announcing his 'Make in India' vision plan, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first port of call was JNPT, the biggest port for handling container traffic in the country. The foundation stone for the first leg of the $800 million multi-product Special Economic Zone SEZ project was laid on August 16. The project will develop free trade warehousing zones for engineering goods sector, textile and other sectors. The JNPT SEZ will come up over 277 hectares of land near the port as a self-sustainable integrated development project with a potential to generate around 150,000 jobs.

Technip, in a joint venture with Fluor, was awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management contract by PRPC Utilities and Facilities Sdn. Bhd. for the PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) project located in the state of Johor, Malaysia. Under this contract, the Fluor and Technip joint venture will be responsible for the utilities, interconnecting and offsites (UIO) scope of work. PRPC Utilities and Facilities Sdn. Bhd. is a subsidiary of PETRONAS Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (PRPC), a company under the umbrella of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) group, Malaysia’s national oil and gas company. RAPID is part of PETRONAS Pengerang Integrated Complex development.

Queensland Turns Down Cruise Terminal Request

Australia's Queensland government has backed away from controversial plans to allow a cruise ship terminal to be built on state-owned land on the Gold Coast, according to the 'Brisbane Times'. Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney announced on Tuesday that in response to community concerns, vacant land at Doug Jennings Park and parts of the Southport Spit would not be made available to Chinese property company ASF Consortium as part of its application for an integrated development licence. The company plans to build a mega-resort on the Broadwater, which would include a casino and cruise ship terminal. However, Brisbane Times reports that Mr Seeney said ASF Consortium has updated its concept plan to relocate the cruise ship terminal from The Spit to Wave Break Island.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation of a Port- Based Multi-product Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) at Sheva, Navi Mumbai on Saturday, August 16, 2014. The proposed industrial infrastructure in 277 hectares with a total Public and Private investment of INR 4,000 Crore is planned as a Self-Sustainable Integrated Development Project having a potential of generating 1.5 lakh direct and indirect jobs. The ambitious SEZ to be developed through JNPT-SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) under the Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) mode will be completed in three years.

First PNG LNG Cargo Shipped by Exxon Mobil

Exxon Mobil Corporatio says it has shipped the first cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the $19 billion PNG (Papua New Guinea) LNG project ahead of schedule. PNG LNG, operated by ExxonMobil affiliate ExxonMobil PNG Limited, is expected to produce more than 9 trillion cubic feet of gas over its estimated 30 years of operations. The first cargo is bound for LNG customer Tokyo Electric Power Co. Inc. (TEPCO) in Japan. Production from the first train started in April, 2014, and production from the second train has also started as additional wells came online. Construction of PNG LNG began in 2010, and took more than 190 million work hours to complete. At its peak, the project employed more than 21,000 people.

BMT Designs Jetty for New Malaysia Refinery Construction

BMT Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (BMT), says it has completed a concept design for the Material Off Loading Facility (MOLF) at Petroliam Nasional Berhad’s (Petronas’) proposed Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID) complex in southeast Johor, Malaysia. The RAPID project will help to address the growing need for petroleum and commodity petrochemical products in the Asia Pacific region.
