GL Garrad Hassan Releases New Version of Bladed

GL Garrad Hassan has released Version 4.4 of Bladed, the industry standard integrated software package for the design and certification of onshore and offshore wind turbines. The release of Version 4.4 represents a significant milestone for Bladed, with many new features, including a new pitch actuator model with additional functionality, a new external controller interface, improved moorings capability for floating turbines, and several updates to the hardware test module. Eimskip Chooses Star Information Systems

Eimskip, Iceland’s oldest shipping company, has chosen Star Information Systems for their fleet management. Under the terms of the agreement, Star Information Systems (SIS) will provide a fully integrated software package, including systems to manage maintenance, purchasing, work planning, guarantee claims, messaging, insurance policies and claims, budget and cost control, project, event, crew and document management. The system will be installed on Eimskip’s fleet of 10 vessels and in the office in Iceland.

BASS and NTC-M Partner Up

In sync with their objective of “training seafarers using quality software”, BASS and the Norwegian Training Center (NTC-M) in Manila have agreed to establish hands-on training experience for seafarers as the industry moves towards adopting ICT (Information and Communications Technology). BASS will contribute by installing their integrated shipboard applications in a simulated environment in NTC-M while the training center will conduct training based upon actual operation between ship and office. The configuration of such training mechanism is said to benefit the seafarers as learning gets easier this way. LR Acquires Capstone Engineering

Lloyd’s Register Americas, Inc. has acquired Capstone Engineering Services, Inc. and Capstone Software Systems, Inc. The acquisition will be renamed Lloyd’s Register Capstone, Inc. and will strengthen the Lloyd’s Register Group’s integrity services business and provide its oil and gas business with a broader base in the Americas. With the addition of Capstone software, RBMI, the Lloyd’s Register Group strengthens its position by enhancing its world-class, risk and asset management services, and its client-focused, software solutions. Capstone, a Houston-based company, has been helping clients improve process plant reliability and equipment integrity by providing a set of integrated consulting services and the most comprehensive risk-based inspection (RBI) software on the market.
