IOOC Launches First PIMS

Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), a subsidiary of the National Iranian Oil Company, has successfully launched its first offshore pipeline integrity management system (PIMS) in the Iranian oil industry.According to IOOC, the system was launched in order to comply with international and national requirements for the standard, safe and continuous operation of the Salman Oilfield’s gas pipelines with a Norwegian company and the Pipeline Technology Company.The project is dubbed as the first of such projects in the Iranian offshore oil industry, said a report in Iran News.A Pipelines Management System (PMS) provides a clear process, with tasks and responsibilities…

MISC awards BV contract for Veristar AIM3D

Bureau Veritas (BV) has been awarded a contract by MISC Berhad (MISC) to deploy and support the VeristarAIM3D ‘software as a solution’ system to provide asset integrity services on selected MISC FPS systems:the Floating Storage & Offloading (FSO) vessel -FSO Benchama 2and the Floating Production, Storage & Offloading (FPSO) vessels - MaMPU1 and FPSO Cendor. Veristar AIM3D is BV’s sophisticated, full life-cycle Asset Integrity Management System, developed in partnership with Dassault Systèmes. Released in April 2017, it incorporates a unique combination of 3D enabling a digital twin of assets with smart data processing, via a connected platform to enabledata collection, updates, visualization,and data processing – with clear visibility through dashboards.

New Asset Integrity Management System Launched

Bureau Veritas has launched Veristar AIM 3D asset integrity management system, based on technology partner Dassault Systems’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The new solution combines a digital twin of any marine or offshore assets with smart data in a collaborative environment. Veristar AIM 3D will be used in the design, development and implementation of the operational lifecycle, to reflect and predict the condition of any asset, or fleet of assets. The solution supports risk based inspection and condition based maintenance approaches.

Digital Transformation for Marine and Offshore Companies

Classification society Bureau Veritas has entered into a strategic partnership with Dassault Systèmes, the 3DEXPERIENCE Company, company in 3D design software, 3D Digital Mock Up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, in which Bureau Veritas will use Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform to enable the continuous assessment throughout the lifetime of ships and offshore platforms, as well as the equipment found on them. Bureau Veritas’ integrated Asset Integrity Management System will help owners and operators in their decision-making and improve maintenance and repair, seeking to reduce cost and downtime. This will rely on a joint development program that will ensure interoperability with third party software and related data standards.

IMCA Publishes Revision to Wire Rope Integrity Management Guidance

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has published a revised version of ‘Guidance on wire rope integrity management for vessels in the offshore industry’ (IMCA SEL 022 Rev. 2/IMCA M 194 Rev. 2). This is now available for downloading free of charge from the IMCA website. This document provides guidance on the necessary elements of an integrity management system required to achieve an acceptable level of ongoing safety for the use of wire ropes in a marine environment.

DNV Launches Synergi RBI Software

Managing onshore and offshore assets has previously demanded multiple risk-based inspection (RBI) software tools, increasing operator cost and reducing efficiency. With the new release of DNV Software’s Synergi Plant, which has integration with Synergi RBI, operators can use one complete quantitative risk assessment system, moving from subjective to objective decision making and from preventive to predictive maintenance. Lubricant Technology Proven Tough Under Fire

When Texaco, now represented in the marine lubricants market by FAMM (Fuel and Marine Marketing), launched Taro 40 XL 40, the lubricant was designed to address pressing field problems in medium speed engines. Three years later FAMM is in a position to evaluate the performance in a large number of engines and to compare the field results with competitive lubricants. The pressing problems arose from a series of engine design and fuel processing changes. Although aimed at improving engine efficiency and making savings, the changes resulted in a series of difficulties. The best known are engine blackening, undercrown deposits, piston head corrosion, fouling of purifier heaters, increased oil consumption, base number depletion, oil scraper ring clogging and increased piston deposits.
