Montrose Port Authority says the port is set to become the first Scottish port to provide shore power infrastructure to the energy sector.To enable shore power to offshore energy industry vessels, the port has partnered with with Plug Shore Power Ltd in a 50/50 joint venture. The partnership will see an initial investment of £1 million into the joint venture which will be named Plug Montrose Ltd."Global shipping accounted for 833 million tonnes of CO2 in 2021. Currently only two British ports are equipped with shore power.

InterMoor, a provider of mooring services, foundation solutions and offshore installations in subsea services group Acteon, has announced the acquisition of all intellectual property of the BEL Grapnel & Chaser (BEL) company, including drawings, designs, and cast patterns for its complete range of anchor and chain handling equipment (chasers and grapnels).Based in the North East of England, with a heritage dating back to the mid-1970s, BEL was the first manufacturer of successful grapnel and chaser products.

InterMoor has completed work for the installation of the new Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) facility Benchamas 2 (FSO Benchamas 2). Previously, the Benchamas Explorer FSO, owned and operated by Chevron, was installed in 1999 in Block B8/32 in the Gulf of Thailand. The FSO began initial production in 1999 and after operating the facility for almost 20 years, Chevron decided to replace the aging facility with the new FSO Benchamas 2. InterMoor completed its involvement in the Shell Malikai Tension Leg Platform (TLP) float-off operations. The TLP was loaded onto the Dockwise Heavy Lift Vessel White Marlin at Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE) shipyard in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia, and transported to a float-off location in the Singapore Straits. InterMoor, an Acteon company, has appointed Cleiver Moulin as managing director in Brazil. Moulin will be responsible for overseeing InterMoor do Brasil’s business in the region. Moulin joined InterMoor do Brazil in 2010 as a Senior Project Manager and has since played management roles in projects, operations and business areas. Prior to joining InterMoor do Brazil, Moulin worked in engineering, certification and management functions at Bureau Veritas and RBNA. He worked six years as a project and contract manager for Tecnitas do Brasil.

InterMoor said it has completed the final tensioning and chain cutting operations on the FPSO Turritella for the Shell Stones project, located in the Walker Ridge protraction area in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM). The FPSO Turritella will connect to subsea infrastructure located beneath approximately 9,500 ft (2,896 m) of water, breaking the existing water depth record for an oil and gas production facility. This ultra-deepwater project marks the first FPSO for Shell in the GoM, and the second FPSO in the GoM.

InterMoor has completed a mooring and foundation installation campaign for bpTT’s Juniper gas project offshore Trinidad and Tobago, reportedly the largest foundation installation campaign offshore Trinidad and Tobago to date. LM Handling, an Acteon company, has provided handling expertise and equipment to support Acteon sister company, InterMoor, in the successful mooring installation of a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit for the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) operated Enping 24-2 oilfield in the South China Sea. With LM Handling’s lifting and handling expertise and equipment, a 12-pile anchor mooring system, consisting of three clusters of four mooring lines, was installed. LM Handling provided its StabFrame-S in its extended configuration, pre-loaded with additional ballast to achieve a stable and safe install for the long mooring piles, and 84 and 60 in. internal lift tools.

Acteon company InterMoor completed decommissioning operations of the Innovator platform in the Gulf of Mexico’s Gomez field, Mississippi Canyon Block 711. Conducted in water depths of 910 meters, the scope of work involved disconnecting 10 risers/umbilicals; disconnecting 12 mooring lines and then towing the Innovator to Ingleside, Texas. InterMoor, an Acteon company, has won a contract for design, fabrication and installation of 12 suction pile anchors, preset installation of 12 chain/polyester/chain mooring lines and hook-up of the LLOG Delta House production semi-submersible (the Floating Production System “FPS”). The work will be conducted in the Mississippi Canyon 254 block of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The project will involve suction pile design, fabrication and installation, followed by preset mooring installation and pre-set mooring hook-up of the FPS. The 12 piles will be 85 ft. long and 16 ft.

InterMoor Inc., an Acteon company, has extended its capabilities and service range by becoming the first U.S.-based company to achieve certification under Det Norske Veritas (DNV) 413: Service Suppliers Engaged in Renewal Survey Examination of Mooring Chain Intended for Mobile Offshore Units. This means that InterMoor Inc. can now inspect, certify and recertify mooring chains and related components such as connecting links and wire rope for mobile offshore units that have or will have DNV classification (DNV-OSS-101 and 102). After spending a day exploring the sprawling Açu Superport and Industrial Complex construction site far up the northeast coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro courtesy of LLX and OSX, Claudio Paschoa, Maritime Reporter’s Contributing Editor in Brazil, flew back to Rio for a conversation with Marcus Berto, LLX’s new CEO at the EBX Group headquarters in downtown Rio de Janeiro. “This is a not simply a port belonging to LLX. InterMoor do Brasil Serviços Offshore de Instalaçao Ltda (InterMoor), an Acteon company, was awarded a construction license to build facilities at the new Industrial Complex of Açu Superport located in São João da Barra in northern Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. IOS InterMoor AS, an Acteon company, signed a framework agreement with ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Norway AS to provide engineering services and equipment offshore Norway. The contract will run for five years with the option of three one-year extensions, and the work scope includes inspection and logistics on the Jotun and Balder fields in the North Sea.
