Pearlson Shiplift Confirms $200 Million Backlog

Miami-based shiplift supplier Pearlson Shiplift Corporation reports it has secured four contracts within the past nine months, boosting its order backlog to more than $200 million.A privately held company with a global presence, Pearlson Shiplift Corporation engineers and delivers complex shiplift and transfer systems for both military and commercial shipyards.Recent orders include shiplift systems for BAE Systems – Jacksonville Ship Repair, the Korean Coast Guard and Horizon Yacht Company, as well as one undisclosed project to be announced in the coming months.

Rusal Starts Shipping Bauxite from Guinea's Dian-Dian Mine

Sanctions-hit Russian aluminium producer Rusal said on Tuesday it had started shipping bauxite from its Dian-Dian bauxite project in Guinea to its alumina refineries in other countries.Rusal, the world's largest aluminium producer outside China, has been hit by U.S. sanctions imposed on it and co-owner Oleg Deripaska in early April, a move that damaged the company's exports and internal supply chain.The company said it had completed the first stage of development of the Dian-Dian bauxite deposit in Guinea, the world's largest, and started exporting the ore."The commissioning of the bauxite mine means not only the creation of new jobs and increased employment for the local population…

Enhanced Security Criteria for Importers

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued enhanced Importer Security Criteria for the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT). The Security Criteria Implementation Plan provides that, effective immediately, importers applying to join C-TPAT must submit a completed, comprehensive security profile with their application. Importers who are already C-TPAT members must harden their physical supply chain within 60 days; adopt enhanced internal supply chain management practices within 120 days; and adopt within 180 days a written, verifiable process for substantiating that business partners throughout their supply chain are meeting C-TPAT security criteria or equivalent supply chain security program criteria administered by a foreign Customs administration.
