Angela Chao, chair and CEO of the Foremost Group, has died in a car accident, the New York-headquartered dry bulk shipping company announced on Monday.Angela Chao was an experienced and well-respected shipping executive, having worked her way up through several leadership positions at the company founder by her father, Dr. James S.C. EDHEC-Risk Institute Welcomes Eight New Members

EDHEC-Risk Institute announced that eight new members have joined its international advisory board, which brings together scholars, representatives of regulatory bodies as well as senior executives from business partners and other institutions. The role of the international advisory board is to validate the relevance and goals of the research program proposals presented by the institute’s management and to evaluate research outcomes with respect to their potential impact on industry practices. The 47 members of the board also advise on the objectives and contents of projects deriving from the expertise of the institute, thereby ensuring that graduate and executive programmes remain at the forefront of developments in the marketplace.

Launch of Seafarers’ Rights Center

IMO Secretary-General Efthimios E. Mitropoulos welcomed the launch of the Seafarers’ Rights International Centre, an independent forum dedicated to advancing seafarers’ interests, describing it as an important development on World Maritime Day, the theme of which is “2010: Year of the Seafarer”. The new Centre will be located at the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF)’s London offices, with initial funding coming from the ITF’s Seafarers’ Trust. An international Advisory Board, currently 10-strong, has already been established and the Centre’s stakeholders will include seafarers, lawyers and other advisers, non-governmental organizations…

Admiral Jeremiah Joins Todd Shipyards Corporation Board of Directors
