Maritime Industry Training Expenditure Up

The expenditure on maritime industry training continues to rise for vessel owners and seafarers, said asurvey.According to MarTID survey, new safety and environmental regulations are driving seafarers training trends. Next Gen Maritime Workers Visits IMO

Students from the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) visited International Maritime Organization (IMO) Headquarters for their student forum (11-12 July). Its theme was that of IMO’s World Maritime Day - “Connecting Ships, Ports and People”. The visit, which brought over 60 students from all over the world, provided a unique opportunity for young people to learn more about IMO and the maritime industry. The students also took part in workshops where they tackled real industry issues such as attracting and retaining seafarers, quality training on board and gender equality in the maritime industry. They then had to write short reports on the topics discussed during each workshop. These reports will form an official student forum publication.

Transas Upgrades Bulgarian Naval Training Center

An official opening of the upgraded training complex equipped with the Transas state-of-the-art simulators for N.Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy took place on September, 30. Numerous high-rank officials attended the ceremony, dedicated to the start of a new academic year. Among them was Mr. Rosen Plevenliev, the president of Bulgaria and the supreme commander of the armed forces, Mr. Ivan Ivanov, the deputy minister of defense, and many others. International representatives of Italian and USA Navies also took part in the ceremony.

Connaughton Leads Delegation of U.S. Maritime Officials in Tokyo
