APL Strengthens Asia-Europe Service Network

APL today announced the launch of a new weekly service - the India Pakistan Europe (IPE) Service, directly connecting the key South Asian markets of India and Pakistan to major ports in Europe. The new IPE service builds on APL’s strong market presence and local expertise in India and Pakistan to enhance its Asia-Europe service offerings. “Europe is a premier trading partner and a major export market of South Asian countries. It is opportune that we expand our service coverage in Asia-Europe through the new IPE service, directly linking the major economies of India and Pakistan to Europe. As APL offers market connectivity, our priorities are also to provide reliable and timely cargo shipments across all regions,” said Eric Eng, APL Head of Asia Europe Trade.

GL RC Certifies CG Transformer

Transformer manufacturer CG has received certification from GL Renewables Certification (GL RC) for its liquid immersed SLIM and “Bio-SLIM distribution transformer.” The hermetically sealed transformer is also available with a bio-degradable transformer fluid which reduces the risk of pollution at environmentally sensitive locations, such as offshore. Oil Prices Soar

World oil prices soared in volatile trading las Monday on short-term supply uncertainties and a question mark over whether OPEC producers would soon open their taps. International benchmark Brent crude futures traded on London's International Petroleum Exchange (IPE) stood 85 cents a barrel up, while U.S. light crude was up $1.20. Prices are at their highest since the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) agreed in March to raise output by seven percent. Traders said a strike affecting production in Norway, the world's second largest exporter, combined with continued uncertainty over OPEC's next production move led to Monday's buying spree.

London Brent Futures Set New High

London IPE Brent oil futures set a new 22-month high of $21.30 a barrel in early trade today, jumping 54 cents from Friday's close. Dealers said a renewed pledge by leading exporters to retain tight curbs on exports was behind the price rise.
