Are Foreign Ships Secure in Iran?
Mohammad Rastad, Iran's Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development said that foreign trade ships that transport goods to Iran can be confident that there will be no problem for their movement and there is no obstacle for their arrival in the country.Managing Director of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization Mohammad Rasta said that commercial ships carrying cargo to Iranian ports enjoy safety in light of the security provided by Iran for territorial waters.According to Iran government, there is no concern over movement for Iranian fleet in foreign ports or for foreign ships importing goods to Iranian ports.According to the state media, Mohammad Rastad stated: ""Currently, all the ports in our country continue to serve various types of ships and are discharging or loading cargo.
Norway Updates Hormuz Security Warning
The Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) advised the country’s flagged vessels to minimize transit time in Iran’s territorial waters, due to the previous attacks in the Strait of Hormuz.The ISPS/MARSEC security level remained at level 2, NMA said, noting that boundaries have been slightly adjusted in the Fujairah-area."Norwegian-flagged vessels arriving Strait of Hormuz within the boundaries of N25.257° - N28° and E054° - E058° as shown below are requested to implement security measures as described in their SSP according to ISPS/MarSec level #2," it said.The latest update follows the seizing of British-flagged tanker Stena Impero by Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in the Strait of Hormuz earlier this month.
Iran Sets Up Strait of Hormuz Naval Base
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have established a new naval base in the vital oil tankship transit Strait of Hormuz. According to Iran's Fars news agency, as reported by Ria Novosti, the base, the fifth in the region, is located near Iran's southern port city of Bandar Lengeh in the Hormozgan province, some 1,100 km (700 miles) south of the capital Tehran. Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz at the end of the Persian Gulf in response to any attack from outside. Iran’s largest naval bases are at the head of the Gulf, around 450 kilometers from the strait, which is just 45 kilometers wide at its narrowest point.
