C-Innovation Invests in Covid-19 Mitigation on its Offshore Construction Vessels

Mako Industries signed an agreement with C-Innovation to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 on its offshore construction vessels, beginning with the 168-m Island Venture. C-Innovation Opens New Dock Facility

C-Innovation, LLC (C-I), an affiliate of Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO) and its family of companies, said it has opened a new dock facility in Port Fourchon, La., to expand the capabilities of its Subsea Services group.The new facility is located at the end of AJ Estay Road and was previously known as the Martin South Terminal.With more than 550 ft of open quayside, Bayou Lafourche is a main entrance into the facility, which is supplied with a Manitowoc 777 crane and forklifts for rapid mobilizations of C-I’s subsea construction and inspection…

SCHOTTEL Thrusters for Island Venture

The newly built offshore construction vessel Island Venture features three SCHOTTEL Combi Drives of type SCD 710 (formerly SCD 3040) in the Rudderpropeller version with an input power of 3,300 kW each, giving the multifunctional vessel increased maneuverability for a wide range of applications. Island Venture is the product of a European joint venture with building work carried out at two different locations. While the stern was produced at the Crist shipyard in Poland, the bow was built at Ulstein Verft in Norway, where both parts were also assembled.

Ulstein Delivers Its Largest OCV

'Island Venture', delivered on 17 January 2017, is so far the largest Offshore Construction Vessel (OCV) from Ulstein Verft, with a length of 160 metres and a beam of 30. The ship is designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS for Island Ventures 5 LLC. Vessel details OCV vessel for operations such as IMR, ROV services, well intervention and drilling. Max operational crane depth 4,000 m. Main moon pool opening 11.2 x 12 m, two work ROV moon pools. Extensive under-deck capacities for liquid and dry substances. Deck load capacity 9,000 t. Three separate engine rooms.

MR/EN spoke with two generations of the Tillbergs — founder Robert — and son Tomas — to discuss their philosophies, ideas and creations for a business that is expediently working to meet the cruise industry's newbuild boom. From the time he was a young man attending college in Sweden, Tomas Tillberg longed for the day that he could join his father, Robert Tillberg, at work designing and dreaming up new ideas for the cruise ship industry.
