Ulstein Delivers Its Largest OCV

'Island Venture', delivered on 17 January 2017, is so far the largest Offshore Construction Vessel (OCV) from Ulstein Verft, with a length of 160 metres and a beam of 30. The ship is designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS for Island Ventures 5 LLC. Vessel details OCV vessel for operations such as IMR, ROV services, well intervention and drilling. Max operational crane depth 4,000 m. Main moon pool opening 11.2 x 12 m, two work ROV moon pools. Extensive under-deck capacities for liquid and dry substances. Deck load capacity 9,000 t. Three separate engine rooms.

Ulstein Verft Launches its Largest Ship to Date

On August25, shipbuilder Ulstein Verft launched from its dock hall a special offshore construction vessel, Yno 302, for Island Offshore and Edison Chouest Offshore. The newbuild measures close to 160 meters in length with at beam of 30 meters, making her the largest offshore vessel built at Ulstein Verft to date. A video of the launch is available here. According to the builder, the vessel’s total steel volume is about 8,800 metric tons – approximately the same as five platform supply vessels.

ABB Wins US$20-Million in Offshore Vessel Orders

Power and automation technology group, ABB, says it has won contracts worth in excess of $20 million to supply electrical power and propulsion systems for two next generation offshore vessels. The first vessel is being constructed at Ulstein Verft in Norway for Island Ventures 11, the joint venture set up in 2012 by the leading US and Norwegian owners Edison Chouest Offshore and Island Offshore, whose advanced subsea service vessels provide high quality solutions to the offshore oil industry. At 28 meters wide and 145.7 meters long, and with accommodation for 200 people, the SX165 will be the largest vessel constructed by Ulstein Verft and is due for delivery in Q3 2015.

ABS to Class Two US-built OCVs

Offshore and maritime classification society ABS has been selected by Edison Chouest Offshore and Island Offshore through the company Island Ventures II LLC to class two next-generation offshore construction vessels (OCVs). The ULSTEIN SX165 design vessels, ordered through Island Ventures II LLC, will be built at Ulstein Verft in Norway and Edison Chouest's LaShip yard in Houma, Louisiana, in the U.S. The OCVs will be 28 m wide and 145.7 m long with accommodations for 200 people.

Island Ventures Orders Two Ulstein Vessels, First in U.S.

Edison Chouest Offshore and Island Offshore are ordering two new OCV vessels through the company Island Ventures II LLC. One vessel will be built at Ulstein Verft, Norway, and the other in the United States. Ulstein Verft has been contracted to build a new offshore construction vessel of the Ulstein SX165 design.
