Management Shuffle at SunStone Ships

Sunstone Ships reports that its president Ulrik Hegelund, 52, has, for family reasons, decided to move back to Denmark. As of January 1, 2023, Hegelund will take the position as CFO of SunStone Maritime with overall responsibility for the group’s accounting, budgeting, cash flow, reporting, legal, and IT matters.As of January 1, Christian Lund, 40, will take over the position as President of SunStone Ships Inc., Miami. Lund has been working within the Sunstone group companies in Miami for the past 14 years.

Niels-Erik Lund began his passenger ship career in 1969 as a trainee in a Danish passenger shipping company, DFDS. In the nearly 50 years since, the passenger and cruise shipping industry has changed many times over, with consistent growth being the only similarity between then an now. Today Lund, President & CEO of Sunstone Ships, Inc., has an unfettered view of the expedition cruise sector that he helped to create. ISP to Supply New Rescue Boat

Bootle-based maritime firm International Safety Products (ISP) is set to become one of the world’s only major suppliers of a new rescue boat. The Liverpool City Region business - which is one of the largest manufacturers of inflatable marine lifejackets - supplies a range of maritime safety equipment. ISP commercial director Geoff Billington said the Duarry 420RB Rescue Boat is an important addition to the portfolio, and the firm will be targeting key markets with the product, especially the commercial marine sector - including offshore businesses.

ISP Unveil Re-designed Lifejackets Range

UK's International Safety Products, manufacturer and supplier of marine safety products, says it launched a redesigned package of lifejackets at the recent Shipbuilding, Maritime and Machinery (SMM) trade show in Germany. The firm's Andy Scott said they unveiled new be-spoke versions of the Challenger Flexi-wing 150N, Challenger Interlock 275N and Challenger Worksafe Pro 170N lifejackets. The lifejackets now have additional design options to provide even greater comfort, particularly for people working across the maritime sector. Mr Scott said many manufacturers are highlighting 275N SOLAS/MED (Safety Of Life At Sea Maritime Equipment Directive) lifejackets as being better for working personnel than 150N SOLAS/MED lifejackets, whereas the opposite is true in many situations.

ISP, Ocean Signal Equip Schooner with Safety Products

UK-based maritime firms, International Safety Products and Ocean Signal, have collaborated to equip Britain’s last remaining three-masted top-sail schooner with essential marine safety equipment. The two firms have supplied lifejackets and an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) to the Kathleen & May. Located in Canning Dock, Liverpool, bystanders will see the ISP and Ocean Signal flags waving high on the vessel’s main mast. It comes during a busy period of activity for the Kathleen & May which is an event location during this year’s International Festival for Business.

ISP Announces Defense Sector Growth

Liverpool marine firm International Safety Products (ISP) is announcing major defense sector growth after securing a deal with the Pakistan Navy. The Bootle business has signed a contract to supply the Asian security force with more than 180 assault troop lifejackets. The specialized life preservers have a low profile and compact design for use in amphibious operations. ISP managing director John Rogers said the firm is witnessing rapid expansion in the defense sector. It follows other recent deals with U.K. Ministry of Defense (MoD) and the Royal Netherlands Navy.

Autoship Systems, per its partnership with Stargate, an ISP/ASP provider, has developed jointly a web site whereby their loading planning software, LPS, can be used remotely. Utilizing thin client technology, Autoship can now enable internationally located clients to work with LPS without actually implementing the software on their personal computers. Remote access through the Internet allows users to run deploy LPS using any available computer with Internet connection. In addition, the thin client technology allows multiple users to run the same instance of LPS concurrently. ExxonMobil Marine Fuels (EMMF) will begin trading marine fuels on the Internet and has signed the first of several agreements with an e-commerce portal.

SembCorp Industries Looks To Become A Global Contender

Diversified SembCorp Industries Ltd., fresh from sales of key non-core assets, is hunting for foreign partners in its bid to become a global contender in its core businesses, President Wong Kok Siew said. Already Asia's largest shipyard operator, SembCorp is confident about meeting its internal target of not less than 20 percent growth in net profit per annum and has set its sights beyond Asia. "With the major divestments of non-core over, our game plan is simple -- to grow the group as we move forward," Wong, who is also the group's chief executive, said. The year-old entity of government-owned Singapore Technologies Industrial Corp and Sembawang Corp has made estimated proceeds of $340.5 million from its non-core asset sales so far this year.
