Carnival Corp. to Launch Four New Ships in 2016

Carnival Corporation & plc will launch four new ships in 2016 across four of its global cruise brands. These additions are part of the 17 ships scheduled for delivery for Carnival Corporation’s 10 brands through 2020. “As we execute our fleet enhancement plan – which includes a long-term strategy for bringing highly efficient, state-of-the-art ships to market and elevating the overall cruise experience, we are excited about seeing these new ships come to life this year,” said Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation.

Houston Braces for Floods as Texas Deluged by Rain

Heavy rains fueled by the meeting of two strong storm systems, one the remnants of Hurricane Patricia, pounded southeastern Texas on Saturday, triggering flash floods and derailing a freight train as the heavy weather tracked toward Houston. Navarro County, about 50 miles (80 km) south of Dallas, was one of the hardest-hit areas, inundating the tiny town of Powell with 20 inches (50 cm) of rain over 30 hours, according to meteorologist Brett Rathbun of Accuweather. Fincantieri Cuts Steel for MSC Seaside

Geneva-based MSC Cruises S.A., and Fincantieri, today cut the first steel for its new generation of ship, MSC Seaside. In a ceremony held at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, MSC Cruises’ Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago and Chief Executive Officer, Gianni Onorato, along with Fincantieri’s Chief Executive Officer Giuseppe Bono launched the cutting of the first steel of MSC Seaside. MSC Cruises’ Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago said: “Today, we have witnessed the beginning of the work on an extraordinary new ship, MSC Seaside. It is a ship that revolutionizes industry standards, with an audacious and innovative design that brings guests and sea closer.

Carnival Expands Fleet with Larger, Newer Ships

Starting in February 2016, Carnival Cruise Line passengers sailing from Port Canaveral will have the larger Carnival Victory as their vessel for shorter vacations and in December 2016, those seeking weeklong Caribbean cruises will have the new Carnival Magic as an option. Carnival Victory will replace the Sensation, providing the three-and-four-day Bahamas itinerary with a 34-percent larger vessel that offers a greater variety of on-board features and amenities, including more than 500 balcony staterooms. In addition, Carnival Magic will reposition to Canaveral, giving access to the line’s newest class of ship and features such as a WaterWorks aqua park, Cucina del Capitano family-style Italian restaurant and SportSquare outdoor recreation area.

Refurbished Scheduled for Three Oceania Cruise Ships

Oceania Cruises announced that Regatta, Insignia and Nautica, its trio of R-Class ships, will undergo a transformation starting early next year in what the company said is the largest refurbishment program in its history. Carnival Cruise Receives Carnival Magic

Carnival Cruise Lines, a brand of global cruise operator Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK), accepted delivery of the corporation's 100th ship, the Carnival Magic, in ceremonies at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, where the vessel was built. In recognition of this achievement, on April 29 all guests sailing aboard Carnival Corporation & plc's 100 ships will enjoy a complimentary champagne toast at dinner to commemorate this historic and unprecedented milestone. All told, more than 227,000 guests across the company's 10 cruise brands will participate in the toast, believed to be the largest celebration of its kind at sea.
